Ivinghoe Beacon - Virtual walk in the English countryside
Today's virtual is on Ivinghoe Beacon. Ivinghoe Beacon is a prominent hill and landmark in the Chiltern Hills, standing 233 m (757 ft) above sea level.[1] It is situated close to the village of Ivinghoe in Buckinghamshire, the Ashridge Estate, and the villages of Aldbury and Little Gaddesden in Hertfordshire and is managed and owned by the National Trust. Ivinghoe Beacon is part of the Ivinghoe Hills Site of Special Scientific Interest.[2][3] It lies between the towns of Dunstable in Bedfordshire, Berkhamsted and Tring in Hertfordshire. It is the starting point of the Icknield Way to the east, and the Ridgeway long-distance path to the west.
Ivinghoe Beacon is a popular spot for walkers, sightseers, and model aircraft enthusiasts, who use lift generated by the wind blowing up the hill – a technique known as slope soaring.
Ivinghoe Beacon's appearance of remoteness, yet relative proximity to the film studios at Elstree, meant that it was a favoured location for many dramas, especially those produced by ITC in the 1960s

Drone View: Ivinghoe Beacon, England, in 4K
DJI Phantom 3 4K
How about a little break from the Balkans vlogs?
Here is a short video of my first proper drone flight done with publishing in mind. This is Ivinghoe Beacon in the Chilterns in Buckinghamshire, England. The video is not perfect and I have a lot to learn about aerial photography and videography, but it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. Some of it was shot by my husband.
There will be vlogs about the UK trip and you can see more of the drone then.
If you want to see photos of Ivinghoe Beacon during the day, check out this blog post from a hike I did a few years ago:

Ivinghoe Beacon at Ashridge Estate
This is a 13.5 km hike via Ivinghoe Beacon at AshRidge Estate.
Ashridge Estate is a 2,000 hectare (5,000 acres) area of the Chiltern Hills with beech and oak woodlands, commons and chalk downlands. These very different landscapes each support a rich variety of wildlife, including carpets of bluebells in spring, rare butterflies in summer and fallow deer that rut in autumn.

Fear and solo wild camping [ Winterton on Sea, Ivinghoe Beacon ]
Lately I've been wanting to 'solo wild camp' (that's, camping in the middle of no-where; like far away in the forest, or up a mountain, or basically anywhere remote and alone). But the more I thought about it, the more I found the idea pretty much terrifying.
This video is a log of how I prepared for it and how I overcame the fear.
