Ivuka Arts Kigali is a group of established artists who are dedicated to discovering and nurturing young talent while launching Rwandan contemporary art to global heights.
Collin Sekajugo is on a mission to use art to change lives. Over the last two years, these words have become more than a credo for the self-taught artist, who has dedicated himself to founding and directing Ivuka Arts Kigali: an ambitious arts project that aims to develop Rwanda's contemporary cultural heritage by honing the skills of promising young artists and providing platforms for their exposure.
Since its inception in 2007, Ivuka has become the face of Rwandan art to both the national and international communities alike. In the last 2 years Ivuka has become the most sought-after fine arts destination for expatriates and diplomats in Rwanda. Yet despite this incredible success, Ivuka Arts Founder and Director Collin Sekajugo still envisions the studio primarily as a place where art is used to change lives.
Through Ivuka's mentoring program, artists who formerly struggled to make a living are honing their skills, finding platforms for exposure, and gaining name recognition. Children who formerly begged on the streets are finding hope and educational opportunities through RwaMakondera, Ivuka's traditional dance troupe.
In a very real sense, Ivuka has become more than The Rebirth of Contemporary Rwandan Art. It has become the start of a bright new life for each person it touches.

Rwanda arts by Yego Arts
Yego Arts Studio is a fine arts studio in Kigali which currently counts ten well-established painters among its membership. The studio was founded in January 2013 by Tony Cyizanye. Using money he had earned from the sale of his own paintings, he organized a group of local artists and community members to remodel an unused building in the Nyarutarama neighborhood into a professional art studio. The mission of Yego Arts is to create a vibrant, self-sustaining community of established visual artists in Rwanda, and to create new avenues for Rwandans to use the arts as a means of healing and generating sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their children.
In addition to housing the professional gallery, the studio brings together folks of all ages to create collaborative murals, hosts free weekly performances by local dancers and musicians, and offers free art lessons and part-time jobs to local youth.

Zuwena Art section showcases exciting, emerging and experimental artists from Africa and its diaspora, and brings you news of where to see their work. Join me on a journey into the most vibrant, refreshing and exciting art exhibitions today. For this first vlog, I take you to Inema Arts Center - an art gallery that brings the community and country alive by offering art programs to children with from vulnerable families and women with limited resources and limited skills. The collective brought new meaning into painting for contemporary art lovers all around Rwanda! The painters are definitely gifted and I particularly enjoyed Mucyo’s ‘Constellations’ exhibition - a quite unique experience!
