Ferry to Tokyo from the Islands (Inside Look!)
I'm heading back to Tokyo via Ferry from Hachijojima Island.
The trip takes about 11-12 hours and costs ¥10,060 (about $92) for 2nd class B tickets (the cheapest one).
There are vending machines galore onboard as well as a restaurant, buy tickets from the vending machine and find your own seat, cafeteria style.
I flew from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Hachijojima 10 days ago (1 hour / ¥13,500 or $120) but boat is convenient if you want to camp. The ferry pier at Hachijojima is only a 200 meter walk to the free camping area.

For the vending machines...or Dramamine. ????
(Vending machine -- but I didn't have ID to buy a beer! Requires a drivers license in Japan!)
★ hellohi821
Have a beer on me, John! You have earned it!
(Thank you! I couldn't buy a beer because the machine required a driver's license! I did eat two meals on board at the restaurant - not bad food on the ferry!)

Hey John! where are you today? I thought you got to Tokyo already. Didn't you take a helicopter back to Tokyo? ????
(Thanks Stephanie! The heli only goes 80km from Aogashima to Hachijojima. From there I took a ferry - next day. It was a long trip!)

Have a great trip back to Tokyo! Thanks for all of your work at Aogashima, and bringing that remote area of Japan to us.
(Thank you Jim! I'm glad you could join me for this mini adventure on the island.)

Asahiyama Zoo is Wild ☆ LIVE #19
I'm visiting Japan's no.1 Zoo located in Northern Hokkaido's city of Asahikawa. ASAHIYAMA ZOO is an example of how keeping animals in their natural behavioral patterns makes for happier animal residents and happier human visitors!
Walk around the zoo with me for a bit.
HIROSHIMA MIYAJIMA!
Traveled to Hiroshima to see another one of Japan's famous three sights, Itsukushimajinja (厳島神社) on Miyajima (宮島). There, you will be able to see this shrine seemingly floating on water! And the really famous view of the Tori floating on water is what most people actually go there to see! The tides are not always the same though so I recommend anybody who goes, to check the time for high tides first, or else you wont be able to see it float on water! The deers are also really nice there too! Wayyy more docile than the ones at Nara xD. After that, I went to Hiroshima city, the place where the first ever atomic bomb was dropped as a weapon! You can actually feel the sadness of the event while you were there and you just wish that something like that will never ever happen again! There were also people crying. Hiroshima actually had a lot more people and was a lot bigger than I originally thought, so I am really glad I went. =)
