We take a tour of Izamal, one of only two Pueblo Magico's in all of the Yucatan ! Explore this city of Yellow, with us. We climb an ancient pyramid Kinich Kak Moo. After that, we see some local celebrations inside the town convent. Then we head to a local market to sample Deer tacos . We also take a carriage ride around Izamal, which was an amazing site. Yucatan road trip I Tixkokob I Izamal I Ek Balam I TRAVEL VLOG I MEXICO (GoMaryandCoco)
In this video we drive from Merida to a small town of Tixkokob on a hammock mission! Here is where most of the Mexican hammocks are made. We took the back roads of Yucatan and had an adventurous day - a wrong turn in the yellow city of Izamal led to a police escort and in Ek Balam ruins we climbed a very steep pyramid!

The spacious complex of the Monastery of Izamal consists of numerous arches which outline a huge courtyard.
This pilgrimage destination, resembling a yellow haven, is devoted to Yucatán's patron saint, the Virgin of Izamal.
The gorgeous yellow and white colors which adorn the walls of the monastery were painted in the 1993, for the visit of Pope Paul II.
Neglected for decades, the site is slowly re-gaining its lost glory after the initiative to restore Yucatán began.
This glorious site is not only an archaeological jewel but is also a sacred site of healing and as such holds immense importance to the city's people.

Izamal est une charmante ville coloniale construite sur les ruines d’une importante cité maya. Toutes les maisons du centre ville sont peintes en jaune en blanc, ce qui en fait une des villes les plus agréables de toute la péninsule du Yucatan. Elle est simple. elle est paisible, et elle est apaisante, ce qui fait vraiment changement de la plupart des autre ville du coin. Izamal semble être une ville dormante, une ville endormie qu'il faut un peu brasser pour découvrir. Il faut la secouer un peu, mais une fois qu’on y est entré, on peut savourer un petit chef d’oeuvre de l’architecture coloniale espagnole. À l’heure où les rayons de soleil s’élèvent, on peu apprécier une ambiance magique. Parce qu’il règne ici une atmosphese tranquille où l’on prend le temps de vivre, et d’entrer en contact avec les habitants aimables et chaleureux de la place.

Izamal et le couvent de San Antonio de Padua - Etat du Yucatan - Mexique
Izamal est une petite ville de l'État du Yucatán au Mexique située à 72 km à l'est de Mérida.
Izamal a été peuplée pendant des milliers d'années sans interruption. Elle compte environ 15 000 habitants.
Elle est connue dans le Yucatán comme la « ville jaune » car la plupart des maisons de cette bourgade coloniale sont recouvertes d'une peinture de couleur ocre, identique à celle qui recouvre les murs du couvent Saint Antoine de Padoue, édifié face au zocalo. Elle est surnommée aussi « la ville aux collines », en référence à des ruines de pyramides mayas.
Peu de fouilles ont été réalisées à Izamal. On sait cependant que c'était déjà une cité importante au début de l'ère classique vers 600. Plus de 80 structures archéologiques importantes ont été recensées jusqu'à présent.
Izamal était un site important de la civilisation maya pré-colombienne. Elle était consacrée à la divinité créatrice Itzamná, patron des sciences, inventeur de l'écriture et au dieu soleil K'inich Ajaw. Izamal était un site de pèlerinage auquel seul Chichén Itzá faisait concurrence dans la région.
La langue maya est au moins autant parlé que l'espagnol à Izamal. C'est la langue maternelle parlée chez soi pour la majorité de la population. La plupart des indications sont dans les deux langages.

Izamal (en idioma maya, Itzmal: rocío del cielo) es una ciudad mexicana en el Estado de Yucatán, ubicada a 66.5 kilómetros al este de Mérida y a unos 60 kilómetros al noroeste de Chichén Itzá. Se le conoce como La ciudad de los cerros por poseer en su territorio importantes vestigios arqueológicos entre los que destacan 5 pirámides mayas de gran tamaño. También se le ha llamado la Ciudad de las tres culturas por contar con vigorosa herencia cultural de la época prehispánica, de la colonial y del México contemporáneo.
