Izumi Tsuru Viewing 2013
Izumi is a small farming town on the west side of the Japanese island of Kyushu. It's also the winter nesting ground for the majority of the planet's Hooded and White-Naped cranes, from October to about mid-February. The Isumi Crane Viewing Center estimated the total number of both species to be over 13,000 on Jan. 27th, 2013. The birds come down from China and Siberia, then return by March. I took this video at 11 AM, local time.

Cranes at Izumi Kagoshima Kyushu | 出水鹿児島
Each winter on the coastal reclaimed land of Arasaki village, near Izumi on the south west coast of Kyushu in Kagoshima Prefecture between 10,000 and 12,000 cranes of four species gather. Commonest by far is the diminutive, sooty grey and white Hooded Crane, with in the region of 9,000 birds or more each year, representing more than 80% of the world population of this species.
