Up to the top of the tallest stone masonry lighthouses in Japan, Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse!
163 is the number of steps in the tallest stone masonry lighthouse in all of Japan.????
Built in 1903 at 43.65m (143.2ft), Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse in Izumo is the tallest of its kind in Japan. Sitting on the west point of the Izumo peninsula, the lighthouse looks over the quite rugged coast of the Japan Sea. At night the light from the lighthouse can be seen at the distance of 21 nautical miles.
Take a walk around the lighthouse and enjoy the ocean breeze, visit Hinomisaki Shrine, and have an unobstructed view of the sun setting into the Sea of Japan. Also, take a closer look at the walls of the cliff you will also see a peculiar geological structure called columnar jointing (thumbnail picture) which is common in igneous rock formations.

Pada hari sabtu tgl 2 Maret 2019, PPI Shimane-Tottori dari kota Izumo mengundang PPI dari beberapa kota lain untuk silaturrahim.
Di part 2 ini kami dokumentasikan jalan2 di hinomisaki lighthouse kemudian singgah di salah satu asrama anggota PPI di kota Izumo.

A trip to Hinomisaki Lighthouse
My three private-tutor students have grown up in Shimane ken, but never been to the lighthouse in Hinomisaki, just up the coast from Izumo. So we spent a cloudy day walking around, they climbed to the very top (which is about 200 stairs, not 600 like I say in the video), and then we ate delicious shaved ice at a local cafe run by a former student from when I was an ALT at Taisha JH in 2005. Fun day!

Japan Rail Trip #2: Izumo Taisha Shrine & Tamatsukuri Onsen 出雲大社＆玉造温泉／島根

We arrived at Izumo-shi (shi means city) after spending the night in an over night train. Took a bus for about 30 mins to Izumo Taisha Shrine, which is one of the most famous shrines in Japan.
It was very cold in Shimane, unlike Tokyo before we left it was very warm.
It's said that if you pray at Izumo Taisha, you can meet right people / person, get a right job, right partner, fertile, money and so on ...
After leaving Izumo Taisha, we went to famous rock at a beach and one of the old lighthouse in Japan. It's Hinomisaki lighthouse.
Also there was another shrine basically same Japanese shinto god are worshiped there. The view from the lighthouse is great.
Then we moved to Tamatsukuri Onsen (hot spring) where we stay a night. Nice hotel (was on promotion and good reasonable price), both hotel and Onsen were very relaxing, gorgeous.
Onsen water makes June's (probably Nige's as well) skin fresh and smooth, it's recommend for women for anti-aging and for everyone for their good health.
夜行電車「サンライズ出雲」で出雲市に到着、出雲大社に向かいました。日本では有名な出雲大社、縁結びにご利益があると言われています。恋愛に限らず友情や人間関係にもご利益があるとされています。健康や平和や人々との良きご縁を祈りました。
出雲大社を後にし、その後は日本で一番古い灯台と言われている日御碕灯台に向かいました。まずは徒歩で神社が祀られている岩が有名な稲佐海岸に立ち寄り、その後バスで日御碕灯台に。
日御碕灯台の凛とした様子も、そこからの眺めも素晴らしかったです。ここにも別の神社、日御碕神社があり、そこでも出雲大社と同じ天照大御神、そして素盞鳴尊が祀られています。
その後は玉造温泉に移動。温泉大作戦というドラマに出てきた「ホテル玉泉」に泊まります。ポイントで安く泊まれたのですが、とても良いお宿でした。温泉も広々。お肌がすべすべになりました。美肌の湯としても有名で、女性には特におすすめです。
玉造温泉の街には小さな川が流れ、風情を醸し出しています。

It has been selected as one of the top 100 most beautiful lighthouses in the world.
The 43.65 meter tall Hinomisaki Lighthouse in Izumo was built in 1903, and is the tallest lighthouse in Japan.
The height from sea level to the top of the lighthouse is 63.3 meters. It has been selected as one of the top 100 most beautiful lighthouses in the world. Visitors can climb the 163 steps to the lighthouse observatory and enjoy the vast view spreading around them (Admission fee required).

After we finished at the lighthouse, Eli, Robin and I set off for the other important landmark in this part of Taisha, Hinomisaki Shrine.
I didn't add any music to this vid so you can enjoy the quiet and natural sounds - it's a really peaceful place to visit and we got lucky - it was a really nice day.
