Riding Limited Express Train Yakumo (特行 やくも) through Chugoku Region
The Limited Express trains (特行) are the second fastest trains in Japan after the bullet trains (Shinkansen). Usually you pay extra Limited Express fare in addition to the normal fare to ride one of these trains. They are called Limited Express trains because they have limited stops during their ride.
Limited Express Yakumo (特行 やくも) operated by JR West, runs between Okayama City in the south of Chugoku Region and Izumoshi City in the north of Chugoku region. Essentially this train ride cuts through the Chugoku Region. So, during this ride you can see scenery change from city setting to country setting and back. This ride also give you a glimpse of how the Japanese country is, which contains many rivers, mountains and farming fields.

Okayama, Japan - Okayama Station (2019)
Okayama Station (岡山駅 Okayama-eki) is a railway station in Kita-ku, Okayama, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. The station is operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West).
Okayama Station is one of major intersections of railways in the Chūgoku region. All trains connecting Honshū and Shikoku via the Great Seto Bridge originate and terminate here.
The station is served by the following JR West lines:
Sanyō Shinkansen
Sanyō Main Line (including trains to Akō Line and Hakubi Line)
Uno Line (Seto-Ōhashi Line)
Tsuyama Line
Kibi Line
In addition to the JR lines, in front of the station is a tram stop of the Okayama Electric Tramway named Okayama-Ekimae Station.
The station opened on March 18, 1891. Between 1972 and 1975, the station was the western terminus of the Sanyō Shinkansen.

Strolling in Onomichi （尾道）City, Chugoku Region, Japan
Onomichi （尾道）city is one of those off the beaten path type cities and is ignored many non Japanese tourists. But this city is very much accessible by Shinkansen and regular JR trains on the Tokaido Sanyo line and other local lines. It is part of the Sanyo Region, which is part of the Island called Chugoku. Along with Hiroshima city and Miyajima Island, this is a good city to visit on a one day trip, if you happen to be staying in Osaka or Kyoto as a tourist.
Onomichi city is a great harbor city, with hill on one side and water on the other. City has hilly slopes where there are lot of old temples, great little restaurants and other tourist attractions.

遮断機、警報機共に正常に作動していたので、安全確認のためだけに係員が配置されていたのかもしれません。
