BC Winegrowers Inniskillin Okanagan (Oliver)
Inniskillin Okanagan’s Dark Horse Vineyard sits on the Okanagan Valley’s newest, and only official appellation, the Golden Mile Bench. According to winemaker Derek Kontkanen ‘Dark Horse’ is an appropriate moniker for the stony bench that is home to Inniskillin’s Discovery Series program. The series features a number of varietal wines that are atypical to the south Okanagan. Join us as we discuss the process of looking for the perfect match between grape and terroir. And speaking of perfect pairings Derek takes us on a tour the new Inniskillin Okanagan tasting room where we match the basic tastes to a bevy of famed Inniskillin Okanagan icewines.
B.C. Wines
Derek Kontkanen, Winemaker for Jackson-Triggs Okanagan Estate and Kurtis Kolt, Sommelier and Wine Consultant for the British Columbia Wine Institute join Fiona and Mike to talk and taste some great B.C. wines.

There's a certain craft to blending Meritage varietals into one perfect red wine. Our winemakers (Dave Carson from Jackson-Triggs Okanagan, Jason James from Black Sage Vineyard, and Randy Picton from Nk’Mip Cellars) each have their perfect blend and they tell us about it in this video. Plus, they share their tasting notes and make pairing suggestions. Discover the world of red Meritage wines of the Okanagan. Which one is for you? It may be more than one - which is why we say, the more the Meritage! Drop by our wineries to give them a try.

This is the first segment of our M-Link segment called School of Wine, where we travel to different Canadian wineries to discover how wine is made, and what food to pair it with. Lauren has a quite sophisticated knowledge of wine, yet Alicia knows nothing.
Okanagan Valley Wine Tasting Tour - 2013 October
Wine tasting in the Okanagan Valley region of BC Canada is a must do activity in the fall. This year Karen & I travelled with Bill and Sandra Owens, Wayne and Sandra Sinclair into the heart of wine country to enjoy several estate wines. It took us three days to cover parts of Bottle Neck Drive near Summerland, the estate wineries along the Naramata Bench close to Penticton, then south onto Eastside rd. along Skaha Lake. The wineries were super easy to find. Staff especially friendly this time of year. However we encountered only one hick up at Black Widow Winery. Their staff were not at their best. The wine server was unfriendly and not very helpful. Not recommended by us to go there again. Now we know why the Okanagan Valley is known as a true Travel Destination. Here is a list of the wineries that we visited, Dirty Laundry wines, Heaven's Gate Estate Winery, Sonora, Saxon Estate winery, Sumac Wines, Therapy Vineyards,Tinhorn Creek Vineyards, Blasted Church Winery, See Ya Later Vineyard, Jackson Triggs. All these wineries have the VQA designation and have interesting Wine Tasting rooms. Join us for our Okanagan Valley Wine Tasting Tour.
