JE is collaborative project between Haitian and American artists, originally started through a group exhibition that toured the US in 2008. In light of the earthquake and the death of one of our collaborators, Flo McGarrell, we decided to open an art center that would be all-inclusive to queer, disabled and women artists along with male artists.

The Jacmel Children's Center
Visit us at to find out more about the Jacmel Children's Center.
The Jacmel Children's Center is the vision that inspired Hope to Haiti. It's a vision that was first conceived of by a Haitian woman named Bonite Affriany. In Haiti, Bonite serves lunch to over 300 children every day. For many of these children, it's the one meal they will receive all day, and some walk over an hour to her center. Although Bonite is able to feed, educate, and provide medical care for the children who turn up at her door, she is unable to provide a home for them; many are forced to return to the streets or tents. When asked what she needed, her reply was, a place for dozens of children to sleep. And that's when Hope to Haiti was born.
The Jacmel Children's Center is no longer just a vision, but a real home made of concrete and steel that should be finished this summer. Random Acts will be there to help finish it and we hope you will join us.
