Jaco, Costa Rica is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Costa Rica for good reason. There are amazing beaches, plenty of activities, friendly Ticos (people from Costa Rica) and a good tourist infrastructure, however there are some drawbacks to this great place, one being the tourist nature of the town which takes away some of the Tico-ness of the city, the riptides that can be dangerous and the resort centric feel of certain parts of town.

Jaco Beach, its been a while! Renting a house here many moons ago, just south of Jaco, Costa Rica, in a town known as Playa Esterillos Oeste with some mates from Australia, and a friend from Canada.
Back in the town of Jaco on the coast of Costa Rica to see if it has changed and see what I remember. We did not spend a lot of time in Jaco when we were staying south, on the coast but it was Jaco where we would come to get our groceries, beer, and enjoy a night meal or night out.
Jaco has changed a bit, but still the same little Costa Rican beach town I remember. Also, made extra special by the people I met at Hostal de Haan and the terrific weather.

What's good Profound Travelerz! Thanks for tuning in to the first part of our trip over to Jaco Beach Costa Rica. This might have been the most fun outdoorsy type trip we've every taking. So much to do in Costa Rica on the Pacific side, as well as the Caribbean side of the country. At Jaco Beach we had some bomb authentic Costa Rican food, rode some ATVs through the jungle, jumped in a waterfall, walked the strip and chilled out the beautiful beachfront that is Jaco Beach. Jaco is only a two hour drive from the capital city of San Jose where most people fly into Costa Rica. Well, kick back and enjoy, Profound Travelz!

One of the cool things to do in Jaco, Costa Rica, is visit the abandoned hotel view point over the town. A great way to get a terrific view and catch the sunset over Jaco Beach on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
Leave Jaco town going south on the road that leads to Playa Hermosa. Once you have passed the 'Total' gas station on the edge of Jaco, look across the street for a step road. Follow that road up and it will lead you to two terrific viewpoints over Jaco Costa Rica.

Things To Do In Jaco Beach | Abandoned Ruins In Costa Rica
This free and fairly easy hike in Jaco is a must if you want to see a beautiful view of Jaco beach. You can do this trail by foot, or motorcycle. The trail starts directly opposite a gas station and has a slight incline at the beginning. You have a chance to see many different species of animals and birds while on this hike. As you get higher a old ruin covered in graffiti will appear and is a great place to explore and take in the amazing views of Jaco.
