Orchha Jahangir Mahal Palace - Frank & Jen Travel India 14
Built in the 17th century by Orchha ruler Vir Singh Deo in honour of Mughal emperor Jahangir, the Jahangir Mahal is a massive castle of architectural beauty. Unfortunately Jen was down with the Delhi Belly, so Frank checked out the palace complex himself.
From high up in Jahangir Mahal, one could see many of Orchha's ancient landmarks. The camera was put into overdrive taking stupendous HDR panoramas of the countryside, and there were few tourists to obstruct the view. If there was one tourist destination in India that could be considered serene, Orchha must be it. Stay tuned for more palaces and temples of Orchha!
Technical notes: Shot in 1080p HD with a Canon 60D camera and 18-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS lens. Photos are HDR panoramas. Music credits: Clair Voyant and A Hero's Return by Two Steps From Hell, Kyne's Peace by Jeremy Soule from the Skyrim soundtrack.

Tour Magnificent Orchha, India: Jahangiri (Jahangir) and Raja Mahal Palaces
The small village of Orchha (which means Hidden Place) is entered by a gate crowned with a red Ganesh, Elephant God. Once one of the largest and most powerful kingdoms in Central India, Orchha is filled with remaining palaces and temples.
Forty Thousand people was lived inside the wall area of Jahangiri Mahal, a large sandstone palace surrounded by a algae filled moat, and a wall around the palace; over 3 kilometers/1.6 miles long. Very impressive but it is the Raj Mahal filled with frescoes that is incredible. Ceiling and other chambers were delicately painted; some with scenes from Ramayana, others showing daily life and court activities.

Jahangir Mahal Orchha (Part 3) - An Imposing Structure
Built by the ruler Vir Singh, this intricately carved majestic palace has an aura of opulence and grandeur. The palace was built in the 17th century in the honor of great Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Vir Singh was an Orchha ruler who was a good friend of Jahangir, son of Emperor Akbar. Vir Singh helped Jahangir during his clash with Akbar. Jahangir repaid this favor by giving him the charge of entire Bundelkhand.
Later, Vir Singh constructed this palace in the honor of Jahangir.
The imperial palace was built on the lines of Akbar's Hamam Saras in the Agra City. It is a representative of Bundela School of Architecture. This five-storeyed palace has 8 pavilions. On the third floor, there used to be a court attended by the Orchha rulers where they met their subjects. The court is elevated over overlying cloisters with a broad gallery overlooking it. A reddish-brown cornice encircles the court.
A large line of elephant brackets flanks the entrance of the majestic monument. The front portion of the Jahangir Palace is beautifully decorated with many geometric patterns and paintings of flowers and peacocks.
