Kunkeshwar is a village in Maharashtra, India.

This town is situated on the bank of Arabian Sea. There is a temple for the Hindu deity Shiva in the town. This temple is holy place in Konkan, and is also known as Konkan Kashi.The Name of kunkeshwar comes from Temple Kuneshwar it means in marathiGod Shiva

Kunkeshwar is built along the sea. Kunkeshwar produces Alphonso mangoes.

Kunkeshwar is located in the Sindhudurg district. Kunkeshwar is 16 kilometers away from Devgarh(devgad), 54 kilometers from Malvan and 60 kilometers from Kankavli. The nearest railway station is in Nandgaon which is approximately 42 kilometers away from Kunkeshwar.and best railway station option is kankavli railway station where all railways stops which is 60 kilometers,you can check timetable.

At Bharadi Devi temple a fair is organised every February when two hundred thousand people visit the temple during the fair.

This is the Jaagrut (Active) devasthan situated at Anganewadi, 10 km from Malvan. The Bharadi devi temple is in the village of Masure. Anganewadi is a small hamlet of Masure village. The Bharadi (Earth Goddess) devi is famous for her wish-fulfilling(Navas) power. Her devotees express their wishes (Navas) before her and once the wish is fulfilled they come again for a Darshan (visit) to express their gratitude.

The highlight of Anganewadi is an annual fair. [held some time in February/March, the date is declared after getting approval from the goddess herself].

Malvan's Jai Ganesh is renowned for its religious significance and architecture. The temple was built by Jayant Salgaonkar, an Indian businessman, historian, scholar, and writer. The main sanctum is decorated with the gold plated idol of Lord Ganesh accompanied by the statues of Riddhi Siddhi. As per the locals, one should visit the temple on the holy occasion of Makar Sankranti as this is when one can see the direct sunlight falling on the foot of the idol. Also, Salgaonkars have named this Ganesha idol as Jay Ganesha so as he gives blessings to all his devotees to succeed in life.

Tarkali & Devbag in Konkan are famous for their pristine and serene sandy beaches on the west coast of India. Famous for its water sports and one the only few places in India where you can scuba dive.

We started our journey from Pune via Car on NH48. I guarantee you will enjoy the drive.
Stopped for lunch on the way at Ajara village that is famous for special variety of rice ‘Ghansal’. Don’t miss the delicious sugarcane juice there.

BEST PLACE TO STAY IN MALVAN is Devbag. It’s a perfect place to spend quiet time in the lap of nature. Many hotels have private beach areas. Have breakfast and evening tea by the sea!

Malvan, Tarkarli, Devbag Trip - Scuba diving, Water sports

Malvan is a compact town situated on the coast of Western India and boasts some beautiful beaches. Sindhudurg fort, Tarkarli beach, devbag beach, Chivla beach, Tondavali beach, all attract tourists. Malvan town is bound by three small creeks: Karli, Kolamb and Kalavali.

Best Time to visit is between October to January

There is a M.S.R.T.C (Maharashtra State Transport) bus from Pune - Malvan. Bus Timing 7:00 am (express bus) and 8:00 pm (semi-luxury bus) everyday from Pune. (note: There is no MRSTC Volvo bus from Pune to Malvan) Kadamba Transport Corporation buses depart daily from Pune to Goa. There are buses from Kasaal. The timings are: Luxury (Non AC) 6:30 pm (Pune - Madgaon) and Volvo (AC) 7:30pm (Pune-Panaji).

Also there are plenty of buses heading towards Goa from Pune which go via Kasal. Malvan can be reached from Kolhapur by any MSRTC or KSRTC bus. Kolhapur is the centre point for the buses heading towards Konkan, Goa. Buses coming from Pune as well as Sangli, Solapur and Bijapur have to go via Kolhapur to enter Konkan.

Tourist attractions :-
Malvan has emerged as one of the major tourist attraction places in Maharashtra in recent years. Its clean beaches, historical monuments, tasty food/sea food options, various affordable water sports are attracting tourists like magnet. There are many guest house options available in Malvan for stay. Oct to May is the best time to visit. Tourists are advised to book the stay in advance in case planning to visit in months of Apr to May and Nov to Dec; there is large influx of tourists during these months.

Sindhudurg - A sea fort surrounded by sea water from all sides. Only way to reach the fort is by boat. This impressive Sindhudurg (meaning Ocean Fort), was built in 1664 by the great 17th century Maratha King, Shivaji on Kurte island to the glory of the Maratha Empire. The construction of a sea fort was a stupendous task which is said to be completed in mere two and a half years. Over 2000 khandis (4000 mounds) of iron were used for casting and the foundation stones were laid down firmly in lead. It is said that the rocks of the same island were used to build the fort. Three sweet water wells are present on Sindhudurg Fort.Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj temple on Sindhudurg Fort.
Tarkarli - A serene beach located 8 km off Malvan town. It has a Cottage Resort around the beach developed by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation(MTDC). This beach is a favorite with sand particles devoid of any red tinge and sky reflecting waters. Further north about another 6–7 km, is the Tarkarli creek and a lovely estuary. A boat ride on the Tarkarli creek is a pleasant way to spend some time.
