Mombasa: Shree Cutch Satsang Swamynarayan Temple
Satsangi is relatively a new sect of Hindu religion of India. They have now started making temples outside India in countries and cities where Hindus have significant population. Shree Cutch Satsang Swami Narayan Temple in Mombasa is the first BAPS temple built outside India. It was built in 1957 on Haile Selassie Avenue of Mombasa near the Railway Station. The primary idols for the temple were made in Bhoj in Kutch in India and brought to Mombasa and installed in temple in 1960 in a befitting ceremony. It is a small but beautifully decorated temple with ornately painted doors and paintings from Hindu mythology. Paintings depicting the vast Hindu mythology and telling mythical stories of Hindu religion can be seen through the temple. They have also great value as works of art. The temple is a serene place for a visit. Entry is Free.
