Jaldapara National Park - West Bengal
Jaldapara National Park is a national park situated at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in Alipurduar district in West Bengal. The forest is covered with tall elephant grasses. The main attraction of the park is the Indian one-horned rhinoceros. The park holds the largest rhino population in India after Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Other animals in the park include leopard, elephants, sambar, barking deer, spotted deer, hog deer, wild pigs, and bison.

Jaldapara National Park (formerly Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary) is a national park situated at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in Alipurduar District of northern West Bengal and on the banks of the Torsa River. It was declared a sanctuary in 1941 for protection of its great variety flora and fauna. Today, it has the largest population of the Indian one horned rhinoceros in the state, an animal threatened with extinction,and is a Habitat management area. The nearby Chilapata Forests is an elephant corridor between Jaldapara and the Buxa Tiger Reserve.

Holong is a popular destination in Jaldapara National Park of Dooars. Holong is a popular destination for elephant ride. If you want to see Rhinoceros, Indian Gaur, Bison, Elephant, Sambar deer, Hornbil, Great Hornbil, Peafowl, Wild Boar then Holong is a must visit place for you. There is a forest bungalow called 'Holong Bungalow', which is ideal to stay and enjoy the wild view of nature. There are four rooms in Holong bungalow, which can be booked through West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited. One can enjoy the delicious food of north bengal here, specially a fish called Baroli. Holong is only 123km away from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station and Bagdogra Airport. Holong can also be reached from Hasimara, Alipurduar, New Mal junction railway station. One can visit nearby places like Chilapata, Jayanti, Buxa, Buxa fort, Lepchakaha, Raimatang, Toto Para, Sikhiajhora from here. The Rajbari of coochbehar also can be reached from here. In one word Holong is the ideal destination for wildlife lovers and wildlife photographers and best place to stay in Jaldapara is Holong Tourist Lodge.

Hello Friends, Lets go on a thrilling ride on a Elephant Jungle safari at Jaldapara National Park, West Bengal, India.
Elephant safari in Jaldapara National Park is conducted from two locations. The safari from the Hollong Bungalow or tourist lodge maintained by West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) and from Barodabari Malangi Lodge maintained by West Bengal Forest Development Corporation (WBFDC). Only these two govt. bodies have been allowed of operating elephant safaris in Jaldpara. Tourists staying in Govt. lodges get the priority for elephant safari as per first come – first serve basis. Tourists staying in private hotels will have to wait and see if there is any ticket available after the tourists staying in Govt. lodges have got the passes.
We took the Safari from Malangi Lodge as it is easier to get the tickets from there.
The safari from Malangi Lodge has recently started to facilitate the tourists who do not get tickets from Hollong. It also helped the forest department and tourists department to drive some pressure from Hollong. This safari is also gaining popularity gradually. This safari also takes you deep in the forest.

FOREST COTTAGE INSIDE JUNGLE | JALDAPARA NATIONAL PARK | WEST BENGAL TOURISM | chapter #2
Hello Friends, Today I am going to take you to the tour of my Jungle cottage , which is in Kodalbasti village within Jaldapara Forest range of Dooars. The cottage is based 5 KM inside the forest within a small Tribal village.
The Place is simply Magical and a perfect destination for adventurers. We stayed there for 2 days and enjoyed the jungle and village life and also visited Jayanti river, Jaldapara national park, Buxa Tiger resrve, Buxa Fort, Rajabhatkhawa, Chilapata Forest, Kodalbasti and also took a jungle safari on an Elephant.

Dooars is famous for its rich biodiversity, forests, wildlife and ethnic people and their culture. The most notable forests of the area include Gorumara National Park Jldapara Wild Life Sanctuary and Buxa Tiger Reserve. For years travelers and nature lovers have been exploring the area, though organized tourism set foot in Dooars only towards the end of 20th century. During the last two decades, tourism grew with leaps and bounds in Dooars. The first destination to come into prominence was Gorumara National Park. Soon Jaldapara and Buxa also started to claim their pride place of prominence in the tourism map. Soon tourists started to discover the hidden treasures of Dooars in every other bent of the road.
Destinations in Dooars
Broadly the area can be divided into Eastern, Central and Western Dooars. The Western Dooars is most popular among tourists. The Gorumara forests and its surrounding area brings hordes of tourists every year. The surrounding area also offers a number of tourist destinations such as Samsing Bindu, Jhalong, Chapramari, and others. A tour to Eastern Dooars can be easily combined with parts of Kalimpong especially Lava Lolegaon, Rishop
The main attraction of Central Dooars is the Jaldapara forests. This is also the oldest tourist destination in the area. The Holong bungalow inside the forest has seen many tourists including VIP’s staying there. Chilapata, the adjacent forest of Jaldapara, has gained prominence in the recent past. The entry point to Bhutan through Phuentsholing is also in this area.
