Mayors FCS Championship Challenge!
A friendly challenge from Mayor Deanna Reed to Mayor Tim Mahoney of the City of Fargo, as our hometown team, James Madison University, plays their hometown team, North Dakota State University, in the upcoming FCS national championship game!
If JMU Football wins, Mayor Mahoney will wear purple and gold James Madison University apparel at his next council meeting, which Harrisonburg anticipates to happen.
In the unlikely event of North Dakota State University winning, Harrisonburg’s Mayor Reed will wear a North Dakota State University jersey during her next council meeting.
The City of Harrisonburg also wishes the JMU Dukes the best of luck on Saturday, January 6 as they play in the FCS Championship game!

2004 NCAA 1-AA National Championship - Montana vs James Madison
The 2004 NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship Game was a postseason college football game between the James Madison Dukes and the Montana Grizzlies. The game was played on December 17, 2004, at Finley Stadium, home field of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The culminating game of the 2004 NCAA Division I-AA football season, it was won by James Madison, 31–21.
