Music Tour of Jasper, Canada - Unravel Travel TV
From trading post to a bustling town, it was the little community that could. Over one hundred years ago, Jasper Forest Park first came to be and was named after the popular fur trading post operator, Jasper Hawes. By 1911, the Park saw the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway line reach Mile 112. What was then called the town of Fitzhugh - flourished around the new railway station, and by 1913 the name was changed to Jasper to complement the Park. A community was born and stone and timber were turned in to the historical treasures we still see today.
To take in the charm of Jasper is to linger in the heart of the town and wander back in time at the sight of the Jasper National Park Information Centre, the train station, post office, old fire hall, Jackman House, Robson House and CIBC buildings. Channel your inner explorer and embark on a memorable tour of Jasper's rich history that includes storied adventures of the early settlers, railway pioneers and outfitter guides who created a life amidst the majestic Rockies. Visit the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum & Archives at 400 Pyramid Lake Road.
Jasper National Park: Nestled in the heart of Canada's largest Rocky Mountain Park, the town of Jasper offers visitors unparalleled access to one of the most breathtaking and pristine wilderness areas. Jasper National Park, covering 11,228 km (6,976 miles), is listed as one of only 15 UNESCO extraordinary sites in Canada. It's shimmering glaciers, abundant wildlife, crystal clear lakes, thundering waterfalls, deep canyons and evergreen forest, all surrounded by towering, rugged mountain peaks are some of the reasons you will find it on the UNESCO's World Heritage List -- deemed by the World Heritage Committee to number among the most significant sights on earth.

This was a decent hotel to spend the night as we were very tired and just needed a place to lay our heads. The only thing that bothered me was the hot water would gradually get colder.
5 days backpacking the Brazeau Loop in Jasper - Part 1
A return trip along the Brazeau Loop in Jasper National Park. This time I'm joined by fellow YouTuber, Coleman Outdoors (AKA Eric Coleman).
Follow Eric at:
Part 1 covers the first 2 days of our 5-day adventure.
We left from the Sunwapta Warden Station trailhead (1,540 m). The station is located on the Icefield Parkway (Hwy 93) just 31 km north of the Columbia Icefield information center. We traveled in the opposite direction of most parties. Our trip ultimately ends at the Nigel Pass trailhead, so we we had to hitchhike back to our car.
In this first part we hike to Waterfalls camp on day one and Jonas Cutoff camp (2,120 m) on day two. We hiked this loop Aug 12-16, 2019

Picture yourself in a mountain getaway surrounded by towering peaks, untouched wilderness and turquoise lakes tucked into alpine valleys. Jasper National Park is the stuff that postcards are made of.
Part of a collective UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is also the second largest dark sky preserve in the world – and the only one with a human population in the centre of it. The town of Jasper is an authentic mountain community where the locals welcome you as a long lost friend. You will find all the comforts you could wish for, from luxury accommodation to charming cabins and fully serviced campsites, to eclectic shopping and dining options. Wildlife is abundant, even right in town. Where else will you find a herd of elk napping on the lawn?
In summer, ride or hike the Easy Trails system – six different ways to see the best of the Athabasca river valley. Swing the day away in a fairy-tale mountain setting at the award winning Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course. In winter, ski Marmot Basin, 30 minutes from town.
This is the largest of our Rocky Mountain national parks, located 370 km (192 mi) west of Edmonton and 404 km (256 mi) from Calgary. Jasper and Banff are connected by the Icefields Parkway (Hwy 93), with more than a hundred glaciers visible from the road. Use it to access the Columbia Icefields Glacier Adventure and the stunning Glacier Skywalk.
Icefields. Glaciers. Famous Islands. Dark Skies. Here’s your insider Jasper National Park checklist!
Jasper SkyTram
Take the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada and get ready for an astonishing view of six mountain ranges, with the Athabasca River and the town of Jasper nestled at your feet.
Columbia Icefield Glacier Experience
An hour and a half south of Jasper, explore the Athabasca Glacier, part of the colossal Columbia Icefield. At the Glacier Discovery Centre, board a massive Ice Explorer bus with giant rubber wheels and ride right up onto the glacier.
Glacier Skywalk
A five minute bus ride from the Glacier Discovery Centre is one truly remarkable viewing opportunity. Glacier Skywalk is a feat of engineering cantilevered out over the Sunwapta Valley. The fully accessible cliff-edge walkway leads to a glass floored observation platform 280 m (918 ft) above the valley floor.
Maligne Canyon
Ten minutes northeast of Jasper, Maligne Canyon is one of the most spectacular gorges in the Rockies, plunging to depths of over 50 m (165 ft). Come back in winter and do the famed ice walk.
Marmot Basin
Celebrating its 50th birthday in 2014, Marmot Basin is home to some of the most breathtaking and unspoiled views anywhere in the Canadian Rockies. Ski Canada’s highest base elevation at 1,697 m (5,568 ft) on terrain suitable for novices to experts.
Miette Hot Springs
Inside the park in the wild Fiddle Valley about an hour northeast of Jasper is Miette Hot Springs. These are the hottest mineral springs in the Rockies, cooled to a comfortable temperature of 40°C (104°F) as they enter the hot springs pool. After a good soak, take the short walk to the source of the springs.
Maligne Lake
Just 44 km (27 mi) south of Jasper, take a boat tour on Maligne Lake to Spirit Island and see why it’s one of the most photographed spots on the planet. The lake is accessible by motor vehicle, including shuttle buses from Jasper.

Climbing and hiking around Jasper AB
The intention of this trip was to summit Mt. Edith Cavell. Poor conditions foiled just about everything we tried to do... except the hot springs! I had a great weekend with great people! Looking forward to getting the Cavell summit later this summer.
