The North and South Boundary trails were originally laid out as 100-mile long hikes covering the expanse of Jasper National Park. Unlike its counterpart to the south, this trail has seen few modifications from the original route. The North Boundary Trail (NBT) reaches into the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, spanning the north boundary of the park.

Exploring Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada
In this video, we explore the town of Jasper and Jasper National Park after driving the Icefields Parkway from Banff and Lake Louise to Jasper. We take a boat trip to Spirit Island on Lake Maligne, ride the Jasper SkyTram, hike into Maligne Canyon, and eat at some of the best restaurants in Jasper. Oh, and the wildlife!
The trip itself was not sponsored but some of the activities were, including the Jasper SkyTram, the boat trip via Pursuit, Becker's Chalets, and the two restaurants of Raven's Bistro and Syrah's of Jasper.
The Icefields Parkway is often ranked as the most scenic drive in the world, and we don't doubt that claim. It leads you to the small and beautiful town of Jasper, which is home to some of the most beautiful scenery on Earth.
Enjoy the video!

Picture yourself in a mountain getaway surrounded by towering peaks, untouched wilderness and turquoise lakes tucked into alpine valleys. Jasper National Park is the stuff that postcards are made of.
Part of a collective UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is also the second largest dark sky preserve in the world – and the only one with a human population in the centre of it. The town of Jasper is an authentic mountain community where the locals welcome you as a long lost friend. You will find all the comforts you could wish for, from luxury accommodation to charming cabins and fully serviced campsites, to eclectic shopping and dining options. Wildlife is abundant, even right in town. Where else will you find a herd of elk napping on the lawn?
In summer, ride or hike the Easy Trails system – six different ways to see the best of the Athabasca river valley. Swing the day away in a fairy-tale mountain setting at the award winning Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course. In winter, ski Marmot Basin, 30 minutes from town.
This is the largest of our Rocky Mountain national parks, located 370 km (192 mi) west of Edmonton and 404 km (256 mi) from Calgary. Jasper and Banff are connected by the Icefields Parkway (Hwy 93), with more than a hundred glaciers visible from the road. Use it to access the Columbia Icefields Glacier Adventure and the stunning Glacier Skywalk.
Icefields. Glaciers. Famous Islands. Dark Skies. Here’s your insider Jasper National Park checklist!
Jasper SkyTram
Take the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada and get ready for an astonishing view of six mountain ranges, with the Athabasca River and the town of Jasper nestled at your feet.
Columbia Icefield Glacier Experience
An hour and a half south of Jasper, explore the Athabasca Glacier, part of the colossal Columbia Icefield. At the Glacier Discovery Centre, board a massive Ice Explorer bus with giant rubber wheels and ride right up onto the glacier.
Glacier Skywalk
A five minute bus ride from the Glacier Discovery Centre is one truly remarkable viewing opportunity. Glacier Skywalk is a feat of engineering cantilevered out over the Sunwapta Valley. The fully accessible cliff-edge walkway leads to a glass floored observation platform 280 m (918 ft) above the valley floor.
Maligne Canyon
Ten minutes northeast of Jasper, Maligne Canyon is one of the most spectacular gorges in the Rockies, plunging to depths of over 50 m (165 ft). Come back in winter and do the famed ice walk.
Marmot Basin
Celebrating its 50th birthday in 2014, Marmot Basin is home to some of the most breathtaking and unspoiled views anywhere in the Canadian Rockies. Ski Canada’s highest base elevation at 1,697 m (5,568 ft) on terrain suitable for novices to experts.
Miette Hot Springs
Inside the park in the wild Fiddle Valley about an hour northeast of Jasper is Miette Hot Springs. These are the hottest mineral springs in the Rockies, cooled to a comfortable temperature of 40°C (104°F) as they enter the hot springs pool. After a good soak, take the short walk to the source of the springs.
Maligne Lake
Just 44 km (27 mi) south of Jasper, take a boat tour on Maligne Lake to Spirit Island and see why it’s one of the most photographed spots on the planet. The lake is accessible by motor vehicle, including shuttle buses from Jasper.

9 Things you MUST See & Do in Jasper National Park (1 day itinerary)
Jasper has been on our bucket list for as long as I can remember and after finally visiting the National Park myself, I can say that yes, Jasper does live up to the hype. There re so many epic things to do!
Visiting in May has its pros and cons. May was totally empty and had no crowds which means you never have to worry about all the Jasper nuances like waking up early to find parking, campgrounds filling up, and sheerly the crowded trails. The only bummer was that being early in the season, most of the trails were still snowbound. If you're not the kind of person that wants to hike to the top of every peak then May is the perfect time for you to visit however if you want to hike ore, consider visiting in the midst of summer of fall.
Here are the Top 9 things you must do in Jasper National Park (PLUS you can do all these things in 1 day!):
1. Explore the scenic stops on Icefields Parkway
2. Hike Parker Ridge and/or Wilcox Pass
3. Hike onto the Toe of Athabasca Glacier
4. Take a photo in front of Mount Christie (Can bee seen when looking south near the Athabasca Falls of the 1A)
5. Hike the Valley of 5 Lakes
6. Walk around Pyramid Island
7. Grab food and drinks in downtown Jasper
8. Hike Maligne Canyon
9. Watch wildlife
Bear safety tips:
ALWAYS respect a bear's space and never get too close.
NEVER approach a bear
NEVER let bears get to human food.
ALWAYS store your food properly as well as any other objects with aroma
HIKING? Carry bear spray, be loud, and hike in groups
YOU are responsible for your safety around bears. Be aware of the bear and treat it with respect.
Hope you enjoy your trip to Jasper and if you have any questions, let us know in the comments section below!

Summer of Day Hiking in Jasper awesome!
Montage of an awesome summer of hiking in Jasper National Park! 18 trails, over 175 kms, 7 weekend trips to Jasper, and 2 overnight backpacks. I also visited 28 lakes! There's 100 pictures and 14 videos.
I took all the videos and pics with zero intention of making a youtube video with them so there's very little narration...but it was fun editing it together anyhow!
Everything in this video except the elk in Whistler portion I hiked to.
Trails: (most are listed in the Canadian Rockies Trail Guide)
Sulfur Skyline. Punchbowl falls (from Pocahontas Campground).Discovery Trail. Mina-Riley Lakes circuit. Cottonwood Slough. Patricia Lake. Lac Beauvert. Lac Annette. Valley of the five lakes. Dorothy, Christine and Virl Lakes. Portal Lake. Old Fort Point. Buffalo Prairie. Wabasso Lake. Saturday Night Lake Circuit. Devona Lookout. Moose Lake. Mary Schaffer Loop. Bald Hills. Geraldine Lakes.
I did 2 other over nights, Jacque Lake and Geraldine Lakes (expanded), but I'll do separate videos for those.
