This video takes you on a 25km drive along the Buchanan Hwy through Jasper Gorge. It starts at the turn off onto the Tuwakam 4WD Track and stops just past the Jasper Gorge. Driving through Jasper Gorge is quite scenic and well worth the drive.

This video takes you on a 16km drive along the Victoria Highway from the Gregory's National Park Turn Off to the Buchanan Highway Turn Off. We are on the way to Jasper Gorge. We didn't want to take the Tuwakam 4WD shortcut as we were the only 4WD around, plus the park ranges estimated about a 3 hour journey.

In the middle of the night near a remote camping area deep in the mountains of Canarvon Gorge, the camper witnesses up to 7 Yowies as she watches through the mesh of her tent. The large Yowies seem to be play fighting, while the younger ones throw rocks at the ground.
This encounter lasted 15 minutes before they returned to the tree line and disappeared.

The Limestone Gorge is quite interesting with the Karst and the Stromatolites. You don't want to fall onto the Karst! See the photos.

Guide - Mike Jarvis, guests - Maret and Mart, Varuni, Mike and Julie, and Andrew. Starting at Darwin we travelled to Pine Creek, Katherine, Timber Creek, Kakadu and back to Darwin, NT, Australia
Day 1 Breakfast at East Point rotunda, birds coming to drink from leaking tap. Rainbow Pitta at East Point monsoon forest walk. East Point Mangrove Boardwalk. Brian at Humpty Doo invited us to see the family of Rufous Owls that live in his forest garden. Then down to Pine Creek where Hooded Parrots were the stars! Dinner and accommodation at Pine Creek. Birds of the day - Hooded Parrot, Yellow-tinted Honeyeater, Rufous Owl, Lemon-bellied Flyrobin. Location of the day - Brian's garden
Day 2 Breakfast at Edith Falls creek, with Gouldians! Stopped for a few minutes at Brandy Bottle Creek and saw Apostlebirds, Cockatiels. Dinner and accommodation at Victoria River Roadhouse. Birds of the day - Gouldians and Cockatiels. Favourite locations - Edith creek and Brandy Bottle Creek.
Day 3 Bush Breakfast at Dingo Springs, a very tranquil place with Red-winged Parrots, Gouldians, Crimson Finches and Budgerigars. Picnic lunch at Policeman’s Point. Black-tailed Treecreepers on the Escarpment Lookout drive. Dinner and accommodation at Timber Creek. Birds of the day - Red-winged Parrots, Black-tailed Treecreeper, Buff-sided Robin, Star Finches, Budgerigars. Favourite location - Escarpment Lookout and Dingo Springs.
Day 4 Bush breakfast at Dingo Springs again. We travelled down the Buchanan Highway to Jasper Gorge. Favourite birds - Northern Rosella, Gouldian Finches, Spotted Harrier. favourite location - Dingo Springs. Dinner and accommodation at Katherine.
Day 5 Bush breakfast at Nitmiluk after an early morning walk at Donkey Camp Weir. Silver-backed Butcherbirds at Harriot Creek then on to Cooinda. Yellow Water cruise. Dinner and accommodation at Cooinda. 83 species seen. Birds of the day - Great-billed Heron, White-bellied Sea-eagle, Silver-backed Butcherbirds. Favourite location - Donkey Camp Weir.
Day 6 Did the Burrunggui loop walk, viewed the rock art. Saw Black-banded Fruit Dove. Partridge Pigeons on Ubirr Road. Chestnut-quilled Rock Pigeons at Ubirr. Birds of the day - Black-banded Fruit Dove, Partridge Pigeons, Chestnut-quilled Rock Pigeons. Favourite locations - Anbangbang and Burrunggui. Dinner and accommodation at Jabiru.
Day 7 Left Jabiru at 6am. Bush breakfast with dawn chorus at first light at Mamukala with a setting full moon. Walked the 4 km loop walk, Magpie Geese numbers were awsome. Continued on to South Alligator River and saw lots of Lemon-bellied Flyrobins and Canary White-eyes. Walked the Bird Billabong track to the bird hide. Dinner and accommodation at Mary River Park. Birds of the day, Magpie Geese (for sheer numbers) and Canary White-eye. Favourite locations - Mamukala and Mary River.
Day 8 Left Mary River Wilderness at 6am. Explored the Marrakai track and Margaret River. Saw Black-breasted Buzzard which had eluded us for the whole trip. Continued on to Darwin where we birded around Buffalo Creek and Lee Point. Favourite birds for the day - Black-breasted Buzzard, Arafura Fantail, Beach Stone Curlew. Favourite locations - Margaret River and Lee Point. Final dinner together at Green Chillies restaurant.
Total of 171 bird species seen on trip.

Video 181-Victoria Highway-Keep River NP-Jinumum Walk T/O to the Jarnem Camping Area
DashCam video of the Victoria Highway. This provides you with the ability to virtually drive in the Australian outback. This video takes you ca 12km drive from the Jinumum Walk Turn Off in Keep River NP to the Jarnem Camping Area. We didn't do that walk either (7km loop/3h return) as it was very hot. The camping area is fenced off and no places to go apart from the Jarnem Walk.
