Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden was set up in 1969 and it was fully established in 1987. This garden has a dense temperate forest of Oak trees. This garden has a collection of well nursed and well maintained temperature trees and plants. It has a variety of different trees species of more than 50 breeds along with a wide range of plants and flowers.
People buy clothes from Sunday market in Kashmir. There are a variety of clothes on the roadside. A Kashmiri woman in Burqa buys the clothes from Sunday market. Garden Keeper says he has two botanical gardens under his supervision of the state. At Cheshmashahi the garden is famous by the name NMBG. Not much work has been done since the last 5-10 years but since the last 2 years, a lot of renovation has taken place. It also has a Herbarium garden, a big pleasure garden and a mini lake which has been excavated this year itself.
Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden lies in the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range and overlooks the picturesque Dal Lake. This well-manicured garden covers an area of 80 hectares, of which 17 hectares is occupied by a beautiful lake. It was established in 1969, with the aim of spreading awareness about various varieties of flora and beautifying the city.
There are four main divisions of this sprawling green space, namely Plant Introduction Centre, Research Section, Recreational Garden, and Botanical Garden. More than 300 species of flora dot the landscape of this garden, including trees of willow and cedar. Visitors coming to this place can relax in its serene surroundings or enjoy a paddle-boat ride on the lake.

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden, beautiful landscape garden took birth in the year 1969 on the enchanting Zabarwan mountain slopes near famous Mughal Garden Cheshmashahi, overlooking the panorama of Dal-Lake. This pleasure garden complex extends over an area of about 80 hectares and consists of several styles of gardens with unending joy for seekers of solace on informal and undulated landscape.
It comprises of four components- Recreational Garden, Botanical Garden, Research Section, and Plant Introduction Centre. A beautiful lake spread over an area of 17 hectares with joy riding boats is also the attraction of the garden. The garden provides a 3.5 Kilometer joyride, a pleasant water garden, inspiring colour feast of spring, fragrance and colour pageantry of roses, riot of colours in summer, changing autumn colours and captivating twitter of water falls. Over 1.5 Lakh ornamental plants, representing about 300 plant species have been planted in the garden.
