Jeju Province, officially Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, is one of the nine provinces of South Korea. The province is situated on and conterminous with the nation's largest island of Jeju , formerly transliterated as Cheju, Cheju Do, etc., or known as Quelpart to Europeans. The island lies in the Korea Strait, southwest of South Jeolla Province, of which it was a part before it became a separate province in 1946. Its capital is Jeju City. Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has an independent visa policy that varies from that of the Republic of Korea mainland. So all ordinary passport holders excluding those from Afghanistan, Cuba, Ghana, Iraq, Kosovo, Libya, Republic of Macedonia, Nigeria, Palestine, North Korea, Sudan, Syria and Yemen can stay visa-free 30 days in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, even if they normally require a visa for Republic of Korea mainland. Domestic flights from the mainland do not require identification; however, passengers who try to enter the mainland from Jeju Special Self-Governing Province must bring ID Card such as National ID Card, Jeju S.A.P. Resident Card [1] [2], South Korean Drivers Licence issued by National Police Agency or Jeju Municipal Police Agency or passport with proper visa or visa-free passport or passport with valid United States visa.

Walking and free camping along the Olle Trail on Jeju Island, South Korea. This 422 km walking and hiking path is made up of 26 routes, circumnavigating the stunning island of Jeju, plus a few outer lying islands too.

We walked part of the trail over 7 days in October 2017, carrying all of our camping gear with us and free camping along the way. This is a video of that adventure.

It's an incredibly varied and beautiful journey. The Olle Trail takes you past beaches, over parasitic volcanoes, through villages, resorts, dense forest and, well, just about every kind of scenery this stunning island has to offer.

We would love to return in the future to complete the stamps in our Jeju Olle Passport. If you're looking for something off the beaten path in Korea and want to slow down a bit and really take it all in, this is the adventure for you.

While in Jeju, Jo and I hiked Jeju Olle trail number 6. The views along the Jeju Olle Trail were amazing and the experience made a lasting impression on us. The following day, we embarked on a grand adventure -- try to circle the island and hit all the Jeju Olle Cornerstones.

We failed. We did, however, manage to hit all the cornerstones from 6 through 11. It was an all day experience that really highlighted why the Jeju Olle trail is amazing.

10th Anniversary of the Jeju Olle Trail 제주 올레 10년

The Jeju Olle Trail is a series of walking trails that stretch around the entire coast of the island. The trail has been presenting a whole new way of enjoying the island over the last 10 years, reviving the tourism industry dramatically with a total of 7.7 million visitors on the trail courses and 1,600 hikers completing all 26 courses. The philosophy behind the trail is to provide modern-day people with tranquil moments to enjoy the scenery of Jeju and get consoled along the way. Learn more about Korea's beautiful island of Jeju.

2017년 가을, 제주 올레길이 탄생한 지 10년을 맞았다. 현재까지 425㎞, 26개 코스가 완성됐고, 720만명의 방문객을 불러 모았다. 자연 그대로를 즐기는 도보 관광을 제시하고, 외면 받던 동네상권을 일으키는 등 많은 성과를 이뤘다는 평가! 제주 올레를 탄생시킨 서이숙 이사장을 만나 지난 10년간의 성과와 미래를 살피고, 올레길의 가을 정취를 느껴봤다.

JEJU ISLAND SOUTH KOREA, Top 7 Best Attractions.

Jeju or Jeju-do is an island located in the South of the peninsula of Korea. Jeju Island is the largest island in South Korea and one other special province. In 2007, it was named as one of the UNESCO World Heritage lists. Jeju Island South Korea, this is info about Jeju Island tourist attractions, a tourist destination in Jeju Island with Jeju Island tourism and best places to visit in Jeju Island.

1. Manjanggul Cave
Manjanggul is located in lava tube area Gimnyeong-ri, Gujwaeup. Lava tube itself is one of the types of caves that are formed due to the deposits of volcanic lava flows. With a width of 5 meters and a length of 13 kilometers, Manjanggul became one of the world's longest lava tubes. These caves are formed due to lava flows from a volcanic eruption that occurred around 200,000 years ago.

2. Cheonjiyeon Waterfall
Cheonjiyeon waterfall is one of the most beautiful that exists on the island of Jeju. Because of its beauty 22 m-high waterfall is named after the Cheonjiyeon means ' land of paradise '. Cheonjiyeon is attractions most visited by the tourists in the evening, as soon as the evening around a waterfall turned on the lights that make a colorful atmosphere around becoming romantic. Many couples who came to take pictures in there at night.

3. Hallasan Mountains
Hallasan which means Mount Halla is the highest mountain in South Korea. The volcano with an altitude of 1,950 meters is part of Hallasan Gungnip Gongwon conservation area or Hallasan National Park. In this mountain, there is the oldest Buddhist temple in Jeju, namely Gwaneumsa constructed during the Goryeo dynasty. While at the top there is a crater lake known as Baengnokdam, meaning ' white stag-inhabited pond '. The area of Mount Halla has unique natural conditions, as is divided into several different climates

4. Jeju Folk Village Museum
Jeju Folk Village Museum is deliberately artificial village was established on an area of 40 acres by mimicking the concept of rural in 1890 's. The main attractions offered by this open-air museum is a replica of the ancient culture of Korea. There are 117 cottages, houses, and public facilities ala era can be found here.

5. Teddy Bear Museum
If you've ever watched the drama Princess Hours Goong or Korea, you definitely remember the teddy bear of the ruined museum visited by Chaegyeong and Prince Shin in the drama. The venue is the teddy bear museum, one of the few museums that display a collection of a stuffed teddy bear in the world. Teddy bear Museum is also one of the few museums with a unique concept which exists on the island of Jeju.

6. Haenyeo Museum
Who would have thought, that meant a dip in South Korea are women. The story of the great South Korea divers in can you find in the Haenyeo Museum. Inside the museum, you can see a replica of the House the women divers. The House is usually divided into three parts namely bedroom, dining room, and kitchen. You can also see the clothes as well as weapons and tools used for hunting in the sea.

7. Yeomiji Botanical Garden
The last interesting sights worth a visit in Jeju is Yeomiji Botanical Garden or Botanic Garden Yeomji. The Park is located in the tourist complex of Jungmun, is Asia's largest botanical garden which houses a collection of 1,200 plant species from tropical and subtropical areas. Inside are glass houses with various themes, among others, flower garden, garden plants, cactus gardens, forests, and tropical fruits.

A month walking and camping the Jeju Olle Trail in South Korea. In part three of four we continue our journey on some of the best Olle routes the island has to offer. Starting on Route 7 from Seogwipo, we walk and camp our way to the end of Route 12 on the west coast, via tiny Gapado island.

Route 7 is considered one of the very best Olle Trail routes, with highlight after highlight from start to end. The coastal section past Oedolgae and the nearby swimming hole is stunning, followed by plenty more sea views. Route 8 highlights include Yakcheonsa Temple, Jungmun Beach, and the charming arty village of Daepyeong. Route 9 is the most challenging on the mainland, a proper hike with wonderful views. Route 10 is another firm favourite, with dramatic views at Sagye beach, a stunning coastal section around Songaksan mountain, tragic history to learn about and some great beach camping opportunities. Explore tiny Gapado island on Route 10-1, at the forefront of Jeju’s attempt to become carbon neutral by 2030. Route 11 offers incredible views over the bell shaped Sangbansan, with more spectacular coastal scenery to be had on Route 12.

A month walking and camping the Jeju Olle Trail in South Korea. In part one of four we start our journey on Route 18 in Jeju City, following the blue Olle arrows clockwise around Jeju Island.

We complete Route 19, Route 20 and Route 21, before flipping back to the start of our Olle Passport to Route 1. We spend two nights camping on Udo Island, completing Route 1-1 at a leisurely pace. We finish up Route 1 on a high after climbing Seongsan Ilchulbong and a beautiful wild camp at Gwangchigi Beach.

New Chapter in Life on Jeju Island - Patrick Carle
Patric Carle now teaches English at Dongseo University in Busan. He spends his weekend nights at jazz bars where he plays the violin. Patrick first came to Busan in 1996 out of curiosity, and has been living there ever since - not only because he loves Korea, but also because he met there his life partner, Kang Jung-hwa.
Whenever they have time, the couple likes to backpack to see various places. Traveling is now part of their routine. Since 2009 these two people have finished all 26 olle trails on Jeju Island, which has more than 360 volcanic cones called oreum and some 160 lava caves. It is a world-renowned tourist attraction that was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2007. The beautiful mountains, sea and simple alleys of the island inspired the couple to make a new start in life - not as tourists but as island residents.
Patrick and his wife decided to settle down on Jeju, but before moving there for good they visited the island as tourists for the last time. The purpose of their trip is to learn how to run a guest house. Join us to see Jeju's most scenic olle trails and hear the stories of people who moved to the island recently.

Jeju Olle has so far attracted visitors since its opening in 2007. Now Jeju Olle trail route is one of the popular tourism places in Jeju Island. There are so many activates on offer in Jeju, especially Jeju Olle walking path must rank the top. This trip gives a chance to experience life retreat and escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Olle trail route is divided into many sections, which take through along forests, beaches and villages as you can enjoy with beautiful nature. Check this out!

Shot in October as the autumn leaves were starting to change, we experienced two different trails and a whole lot of spectacular scenery. This is one of the best hikes in Korea, and one you should definitely do if you are travelling around Korea.
