Jemaa El-Fnaa MARRAKESH is CRAZY! Morocco
I started off the day at 7.30 in the morning with spectacular views over Marrakesh from the rooftop of my Riad. Then after making friends with two fellow travellers in the Riad we roamed Jemaa El Fnaa, wandered through the markets and also visited a pleasant peaceful public garden. Marrakesh is a city like no other I have visited, I hope you enjoying my Morocco content, make sure you check out the rest of my playlist and COME FOLLOW ME ON MY JOURNEY!

JEMAA EL- FNA Square Market - Marrakech - Morocco (4K)
Jemaa El-Fna is a square and market place in Marrakesh's medina quarter(old town), it remains the main square of Marrakech used by locals and tourist #marrakesh #marrakech #jemaaelfna
Marrakesh - Jemaa el-Fnaa - Marocco
Jamaa el Fna is a square and market place in Marrakesh's medina quarter (old city). It remains the main square of Marrakesh, used by locals and tourists.
The origin of its name is unclear: Jemaa means congregation in Arabic, probably referring to a destroyed Almoravid mosque. Fanâʼ or finâ' can mean death or a courtyard, space in front of a building. Thus, one meaning could be The assembly of death, or The Mosque at the End of the World. Another explanation is that it refers to a mosque with a distinctive courtyard or square in front of it. A third translation is assembly of the dead, referring to public executions on the plaza around 1050 AD.
The idea of the UNESCO project Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity came from people concerned about the Jamaa el Fna. The place is known for its active concentration of traditional activities by storytellers, musicians and performers, but it was threatened by economic development pressures. In fighting for the protection of traditions, the residents called for action on an international level, to recognize the need for the protection of such places — termed cultural spaces — and other popular and traditional forms of cultural expression.[7]
UNESCO encourages communities to identify, document, protect, promote and revitalize such heritage. The UNESCO label aims to raise awareness about the importance of oral and intangible heritage as an essential component of cultural diversity.
The spectacle of Jamaa el Fna is repeated daily and each day it is different. Everything changes — voices, sounds, gestures, the public which sees, listens, smells, tastes, touches. The oral tradition is framed by one much vaster — that we can call intangible. The Square, as a physical space, shelters a rich oral and intangible tradition.

Ticket prices 10 Dirhams (0.80 GBP) each. I also had a lot of fun wandering around Jemaa El Fnaa at night, one of my favourite things to do in Marrakesh.

Jemaa el-Fnaa - Marrakesh - Morocco
Jemaa el-Fnaa is a square and market place in Marrakesh's medina quarter (old city). It remains the main square of Marrakesh, used by locals and tourists.
Jemaa El-Fna by night
Jemaa El-Fna during the day it is predominantly occupied by orange juice stalls, youths with chained Barbary apes, water sellers in colourful costumes with traditional leather water-bags and brass cups, and snake charmers who will pose for photographs for tourists.
As the day progresses, the entertainment on offer changes: the snake charmers depart, and late in the day the square becomes more crowded, with Chleuh dancing-boys (it would be against custom for girls to provide such entertainment), story-tellers (telling their tales in Berber or Arabic, to an audience of appreciative locals), magicians, and peddlers of traditional medicines. As darkness falls, the square fills with dozens of food-stalls as the number of people on the square peaks.

Walking Tour of Marrakech -- Morocco Old Medina Souk【4K】????????
Welcome to Marrakech, Morocco. A new Walking Tour of the Old Medina (Old City) and Main Square Djemaa El-Fna across of endless labyrinths of souks. In 4K by Wanna Walk
The common English spelling is Marrakesh and Marrakech in French is also widely used. I was told that the name Marrakech comes from the words amur kush which means The Land of God. This is the third largest city in Morocco with less population than Casablanca and Fez. The city lies near of the Atlas Mountains and it's pretty close to the Sahara Desert.
There are two very distinctive areas in Marrakesh: one is the Old Medina (old city) and the new Marrakesh, which is a kinda European style district called Ville Nouvelle or Gueliz. If you wanna walk, everything in the Old Medina can be seen on foot. A GPS is key because it's a laberintic area and you may not want to constantly ask for help to locals.

At night this area gets crowded as people navigate toward the exotic aromas and sights where exotic and hypnotic music appears louder too. There are many things to see and do in Marrakech. Walking around the souks will take you many hours as well as several historical and architectural places and some interesting museums.
What is Jemaa el-Fnaa? It’s a very popular square market in Marrakesh, medina quarter, Morocco. Also called Jemaa el-Fnaa (Arabic: ساحة جامع الفناء and Jemaa el-Fna, Djema el-Fna or Djemaa el-Fnaa) square and market.

What to see? The square of Djemaa El-Fna is very popular, in particular in the Marrakech's night. This place offers musicians, story tellers, drum beats, food, fruit juices, things like that. There are also some insisting Arab women wanting to give you a henna tattoo. I strongly recommend to totally ignore anyone who offers you something like a photo with a poor monkey or a snake over your shoulder.

THE SOUKS + JEMAA EL-FNAA | Marrakech, Morocco
Whilst in Marrakech, Morocco we took the opportunity to visit the Souks and Jemaa El-Fnaa as part of a group so we didn't get lost, and could also learn a bit of history about the Souks. We, of course, later explored the Souks on our own and at night! If you want to see that video, make sure to subscribe to be notified when that video is released!
The people who work in the Souks and Jemaa El-Fnaa are a bit funny towards people taking photos and videos in the Souks, some say it's an evil eye whilst others say they hope to be paid instead, so a lot of the footage was taken sneakily, I get caught at one point too!

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the very graphic night food stalls in Marrakech, in the historic central square of Jemaa El Fna in beautiful Morocco. Full tour of the whole place, including the food stalls, the carts selling fruit and juice, the stalls selling snails and the the carts selling sweets.
Marrakesh, a former imperial city in western Morocco, is a major economic center and home to mosques, palaces and gardens. The medina is a densely packed, walled medieval city dating to the Berber Empire, with mazelike alleys where thriving souks (marketplaces) sell traditional textiles, pottery and jewelry. A symbol of the city, and visible for miles, is the Moorish minaret of 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque.
