Jenukallu Gudda - Yellapur, Uttara Kannada (September 2018)
Jenukallu Gudda is about 20 km from Yellapur. It is the best Sunrise/Sunset point in Western ghats of Karnataka. Magod falls, Shri Ghante Ganesha Temple, and Shri Kshetra Kavadikere are close by. The roads are not good but motorable. During monsoon, the roads will be challenging.

Jenukallu Gudda: Jenu means Honey, Kallu means stone and Gudda means hill. This place is a viewpoint in the Western Ghats, which offers a panoramic view of the hills packed one behind the other. Jenukallu Gudda is situated 17 km from Yellapura. The Bedti River from Magod falls runs across the green hills and descends all the way to join the Arabian Sea beyond the hills. The view of the valley is especially scenic during sunset.

The Bedti River from Magod falls cuts across the green hills and bounces all the way to join the Arabian Sea beyond the hills. The breathtaking view of the valley is worth a visit and during sunset the change in the scene is truly magical. There are three hills here, which are at a very high altitude. They are Jenukallu Gudda, Kodekallu Gudda and Balekallu Gudda. The highest hill is the Balekallu Gudda. The roads are manageable but at certain points they do offer a challenge .
Elephants and Bison roam this part of the region and King Cobras slither in the forests.
From here, Magod falls is 7 Kms and Kavadi Kere is about 8 Kms.

Shivapura Hanging bridge, Kavadikere and Jenukallu Gudda - Vlog 3 - Uttara Kannada Ride - GoPro Man
We were returning back from Sathodi falls. and there was a quick diversion to the Shivapura hanging bridge. The road was completely offroad and for few it might be challenging. Lucky for us, half of the road was laid with stones. However we were determined to reach the hanging bridge anyway. The place was just amazing. It connects to two or three villages to the Yellapur. And that hanging bridge is the only way of crossing it. The detour takes about 92kms!
We were hungry when we returned and it was about 3 already. We found a hotel where we had food and then headed to Jenukallu Gudda. Venkat suggested there is another place which is called Kavadikere. Kavadikere spread about 60 acre area and there are significance to this place. It was quite silent and people were fishing there. By the time we reached Jenukallu Gudda, it was about evening but we got some amazing views and spend some time to loosen bit from the day full of ride and adventure. And to our luck there was no people at all.

Sakleshpur hike | Jenukallu Gudda |HoneyComb Mountain #Sakleshpur#karnataka#India#Hike
Trek to Jenukallu Gudda(Honey Stone Hill) ,Sakleshpur - May 19,20 2018.
Our trek started with expectation of a simple trek of 3-4 kms. But what turned out was a moderate level of trek(felt over 6-7 kms long). As we crossed 2-3 mountains we started encountering lot of leeches(we went in summers so monsoon would be worse as far as leeches are concerned). The views of western ghats were quite spectacular(lot of misty clouds near to the peak). The last stretch to the peak was quite steep. The entire group was out of water by the time we reached the top of peak. We could still survive without food but without water it was a struggle.
Lesson learnt every trekker should carry atleast 2 Litres of water. We had a nice time as a group at the hilltop and took a number of videos/snaps.We then started our descend and had packed lunches on the way. The descend was nothing short of mini survivor series(thirsty for water). While we had ascended we had seen a water tap at the base of mountains so we went downhill really fast. The time it took to ascend was 3 hrs with lot of photo shoots but descend was within an hour. On reaching the base and finding the water tap was nothing short of finding a pot full of gold that day. This trek was definately an adventurous one and I would like to go there again with my wife and kid one day.
