Jeonju Hanok Village, Jaman Mural Village & Trying Jeonju Bibimbap | South Korea Travel
Today we visited the Hanok Village and Jaman Mural Village in Jeonju, South Korea. Although a little tacky, we still found quiet and authentic-feeling corners of the Hanok Village and the Jaman Mural Village was totally empty!
For lunch, we decided to try some of the famous Jenoju Bibimbap, as we’d heard Jeonju is known for its food and Bibimbap especially!
South Korea travel has been even better than we expected and it is so easy to find some fun and interesting things to do in this small but diverse country. Jeonju food is known in South Korea to be some of the best, so we were happy to be able to show this in this South Korea vlog.

By KTX: There's a direct train from Seoul Station to Jeonju. Fare is around 34,600 KRW which is almost double the price
Travel time is a little under 2 hours from Seoul Station. You may then take a taxi from Jeonju Station to the Hanok Village.

【4K】전주한옥마을 Jeonju Hanok Village walk ????????
Jeonju Hanok Village(전주한옥마을) is located in the city of Jeonju and overlaps Pungnam-dong and Gyo-dong. There are over 800 traditional Korean hanok houses. While the rest of city has been industrialized, Hanok Village retains its historical charms and traditions.
Jeonju Hanok Village is especially beautiful for its unique roof edges, which are slightly raised to the sky. Hanok houses are generally divided into two sections, Anchae and Sarangchae. Sarangchae is where the men dwell, and is referred to as the Seonbi room. Because men and women had to remain separate, Anchae is situated deep inside the house so that it is secretive and quiet.
-
Historic Site No. 339, Gyeonggijeon Shrine(경기전) was erected in 1410 and holds the portrait of King Tae-jo, the founder of the Joseon Dynasty. The King and his wife’s mortuary tablets are enshrined here at Jogyeong Shrine. The structure was partially destroyed during the Imjin War (1592-1598), and the existing structure was remodeled in 1614. Inside Gyeonggijeon, the portraits of King Tae-jo and other successive kings such as Sun-jong, Cheol-jong, Yeong-jo and many others can be found on display. The carriage used to move the mortuary tablets as well as carriages used to transport dignitaries and individual chair-like carriages are also on display.
-
Jeondong Catholic Church(전동성당) in Jeonju (Historic Site No. 288) was built in honor of Roman Catholic martyrs of the Joseon Dynasty on the very same spot the martyrs lost their lives. The land was purchased by French Priest Baudenet in 1891 (28th year of King Gojong), but construction of the church did not begin until 1908. The church was designed by Priest Poinel, who also designed the famous Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul. Construction was completed in 1914, a time during which Korea was under Japanese rule. Though originally built just outside of Pungnammun Gate, the site of the martyrs, the church was later moved to its current location for expansion.
The first Romanesque building in the Honam region, the Jeondong Catholic Cathedral is made of gray and red bricks and bears a striking resemblance to the Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul. Not only considered one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in Korea, some even go so far as to say it is one of the most beautiful structures in all of Korea, citing the church’s unique combination of Byzantine and Romanesque architectural styles. The rectangular building is topped with three Byzantine bell towers (to the right, center, and left) and boasts arched ceilings, several of which meet in the form of a cross.

KOREAN FEAST in Jeonju Hanok Village
Today we're eating up a Korean feast in Jeonju! Called Hanjeongsik (한정식), this lunch is a traditional Korean multi-course meal featuring a seemingly endless number of dishes. My one advice: take one bite of everything to ensure you have enough room for the next set of food! Choose your favorites, then focus on those goodies. If you want to finish everything on the table, consider growing another stomach. Watch the video to see the full food adventure unfold :)

JEONJU BIBIMBAP | FIRST TIME WEARING HANBOK | JEONJU HANOK VILLAGE
HELLO FRAMILY (get it? friends + family = family)
Lol, anyway, this is our super fun trip to Jeonju :) We have been wanting to come here since we saw Youtuber Mark Wiens come here. We had to try this bibibamp and Jeff was very eager to wear the habok! I was a little hesitant with the idea of putting the traditional Korean clothing on, but once I saw that it was a normal thing for almost everyone to wear it around the town, I said, WHY NOT! :)
I do not regret it for a second lol. Wearing the hanbok dress made me feel like a princess and it was just so beautiful, I was in love.
Well, I hope you all enjoy this little adventure of ours!!

The Ultimate Korean Bibimbap and Attractions in Jeonju (Day 7)
On Day 7 in South Korea, my wife and I were in Jeonju, South Korea. For lunch we had the ultimate version of Korean bibimbap, which is rice mixed salad, and a dish Jeonju is very famous for. For the remainder of the day, we visited some of the most famous attractions in Jeonju.
00:41 300Zip (삼백집) for breakfast - We woke up in the morning and started off the day with a trip to a famous restaurant called 300Zip (삼백집) to eat a Korean Jeonju dish called gukbap, which is a bean sprout and rice soup. The soup included rice, bean sprouts, eggs, sesame seeds, and some other small vegetables. Additionally it was served with another fried egg on the side. It was a soothing way to start the morning in Jeonju.
3:57 Lunch at Gajok Hoegwan (가족회관) - For lunch we went to this restaurant which is legendary in Jeonju for serving an original version of bibimbap, Korean mixed rice salad. The bibimbap cost 12,000 Won ($10.05) per person, and it included an unbelievable mixture of colorful toppings. I thought it was amazing to watch them making the bibimbap, all within brass personal pans, heated on the stove at just the right temperature, and all the ingredients delicately added to the bibimbap. It was one of the best versions of bibimbap I’ve ever had. It was so simple, yet because of the variety of ingredients and the combination, that’s what made it complex.
10:51 Jeonju Hanok Village - One of the most famous things to do in Jeonju is to walk around the Jeonju Hanok Village, the old village of the city. It’s one of the main attractions that people from all over Korea come to see and experience. There are many things to do within the Jeonju Hanok Village including lots of snacks and restaurants, a hand made paper factory, all sorts of museums, and a number of shrines. Another one of the highlights of visiting the hanok village is to get dressed up in traditional Korean hanbok clothing, and walk around and take photos. So Ying and I rented costumes and walked around. The best Korean snack I had while walking around the village was an skewer of grilled octopus covered in cheese. I never thought the combination would go together so well, but somehow it worked really well.
23:18 Gyodong Tteokgalbi (교동 떡갈비) Restaurant - For dinner we ate at a restaurant within the Jeonju Hanok Village known for serving tteokgalbi, which is a Korean dish of minced short ribs, marinated and grilled on your tabletop. It was my first time to have this Korean dish, and along with all the different side dishes and vegetables, it was delicious.
Day 7 in Korea was an amazing day of visiting attractions in Jeonju and eating one of the most complex and delicious bowls of Korean bibimbap that I’ve ever tried.
