Jermuk waterfall, 72 m high, flows into the river Arpa. The waterfall reminds girly hair. Hence the other name of the waterfall: mermaid's hair.
There is a wonderful belief about this waterfall. According to the legend, the castle of an Armenian nobleman was located on the steep cliffs. He had a marvelously beautiful daughter, and men from all over the world asked her to marry one of them. But she refused everyone, because her heart belonged to a brave and handsome man: shepherd’s son.
Every day after midnight from the room window the lady threw a long rope into the gorge so that her beloved one could reach her house. Once the nobleman found the rope and everything became clear to him. In anger he cursed his daughter saying: “If you meet him again, I want you to become a mermaid and never be able to come out of water”.
During next meeting the lady threw her hair instead of the rope. But at that very moment her father’s curse became true. She became a mermaid and her hair – the waterfall.
Джермукский водопад
Джермукский водопад, высотой в 72 метра, впадает в реку Арпа. Водопад напоминает девичьи волосы. Отсюда происходит и другое название водопада: волосы русалки.

Մեզ է հասել ջրվեժի մասին մի հետաքրքիր ավանդություն: Իբրև թե ջրվեժի վերևի հատվածում, ուղղաձիգ ժայռերի վրա գտնվում էր մի իշխանի ամրոց, որն ուներ շատ գեղեցիկ դուստր: Նրա ձեռքը խնդրելու էին գալիս աշխարհի տարբեր ծայրերից: Գեղեցկուհին մերժում էր բոլորին, քանի որ նրա սիրտը պատկանում էր քաջարի ու գեղեցիկ մի երիտասարդի` հովվի որդուն:
Աղջիկն ամեն օր կեսգիշերից հետո, իր ննջարանի լուսամուտից ձորն էր նետում մի երկար պարան, որով հովվի որդին խորը կիրճից բարձրանում էր իր մոտ: Երբ օրերից մի օր իշխանը գտնում է պարանը, նրա համար ամեն ինչ պարզ է դառնում: Զայրույթի պահին հայրը անիծում է աղջկան ասելով. «Եթե մեկ էլ հանդիպես հովվի որդուն, ջրահարս դառնաս ու երբեք ջրից դուրս չգաս»:
Աղջիկը հերթական հանդիպման ժամանակ, որպեսզի սիրեցյալին օգնի բարձրանալ իր դղյակը, պարանի փոխարեն ժայռի բարձունքից կախում է իր երկար վարսերը: Սակայն նույն ակնթարթին իրականանում է հոր անեծքը. գեղեցկուհին դառնում է ջրահարս, իսկ կիրճ թափվող նրա գեղեցիկ վարսերը դառնում են ջրվեժ, որին ժողովուրդը անվանում է «Ջրահարսի վարսեր»:

Джермукский водопад (арм. — Ջերմուկի ջրվեժ) — второй по высоте водопад, уступающий Касахскому водопаду. Высота водопада составляет 68 метров, он находится в Армении, в марзе Вайоц-Дзор.
На территории Армянского нагорья, в особенности в кавказской его части, насчитывается несколько сотен подобных источников. Нередко это целые комплексы, и один из них – Джермукский, расположенный на абсолютных высотах 1700—2200 метров.
Из различных источников джермукского водопада производят высококачественную минеральную воду Джермук.
Живописнейшая местность, где расположен Джермукский водопад, находится на южных склонах Варденисского хребта, где возвышаются Лысая гора и Сим (название последней связано с мифом о вратах Сезам). Лавы Джермукского плато часто образуют и поверхностный сток, питающий реки и водопады.
Низвергающийся с высоты около 60 метров водопад создает три куполообразные террасы, по числу столкновений воды с лавой. Он находится в черте города-курорта Джермук, на расстоянии 200 километров от Еревана, и вливается в реку Арпу.

약수터는 정부에서 지었는데 마치 궁전 같았다. 물은 하루 종일 흘려 내렸고 온도에 따라 30도부터 53도까지 다섯 종류의 약수로 나누어져 있었다. 이곳 제르묵 약수터는 공짜인데 다른 지방에서 온 관광객들이 요양과 치료를 겸해 오기 때문에 장기체류하는 사람들이 많았다. 약수터 앞에는 아르파강이 만드는 절경이 많아 여름철 많은 피서객이 제르묵을 찾고 있었다. 언덕위에는 장기투숙객을 위한 숙소들이 속속 들어서 고 있어 앞으로 많은 사람들이 찾을 것으로 예상됐다.

Jermuk - the most poular mountain spa town in Armenia
Jermuk is Armenian mountain spa town located at an altitude of 2100 meters (6890 ft). During Soviet Times It was the popular destinations for medical tourism in the Soviet Union.
Jermuk is famous for its hot springs and mineral water brands bottled in the town. It is attractive for its fresh air, waterfall, artificial lakes, walking trails, the surrounding forests, and mineral water pools. The town is being redeveloped to become a modern center of tourism and health services.

This video is part 1 of my trip last year (May 2018). I availed the package deal tour to Armenia and Georgia from Holiday factory agency. I paid 1615 aed for it which includes accomodation, air fare, airport pick up and drop off and the transfer from Armenia to Georgia Tbilisi. Since I am travelling alone, I paid another 280 aed as single supplement fee. And I chose not to travel during high peak season date.
Me and the other 2 persons who availed the tour package weren't able to contact Holiday Factory agency for their trip excursion in Armenia.
There was a group of people who are also staying in the same hotel who informed us if we would like to join their trip. I can't remember how much I paid but it's worth it and much cheaper than the holiday factory excursion fee.
