South Georgia Town Home To Thousands Of Wild Chickens

The South Georgia town of Fitzgerald is unique among Southern communities in that it was a planned community, developed in the late 1800s as a home for Civil War veterans from both the North and South. That's not the only special claim to fame for Fitzgerald, though. They also have a flock of thousands of wild chickens that call the community home. The Monitor's Ray D'Alessio explains.

80mph Straight Line Winds

A powerful thunderstorm produced 80mph winds in the Kent City, MI area on August 9, 2009. This is footage of the strong downburst windstorm. The storm itself left a swath of damage from Iowa to Michigan. It was the worst storm we had all year. I was outside for the beginning of it, but when the rains came I went indoors. The wind was wild.
