Escaping Belgrade city bustle at Jevremovac Botanical Gardens
[srpski ispod]
After a quick chat with a guy on Skadarlija we made our way to the tranquil Jevremovac Botanical Garden (Takovska 43, Beograd) in the heart of Belgrade city.
Owned by the University of Belgrade there's twelve hectares of garden to explore boasting around 2,500 different species, a tropical greenhouse (beautiful architecture) and a Japanese Garden to sit and relax in. Thoroughly recommended escape from city life for a few hours.
Later that evening we hit the town and Louise tries her first plum rakija ;)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About location:
''At Josif Pančić’s proposal, the Botanical Garden was founded in 1874 in Belgrade by the decree of the Ministry of Education and Church Affairs of the Principality of Serbia. Even before the establishment of the institution, Pančić cultivated a small botanical garden in the courtyard of the Lyceum of Belgrade, for the needs of teaching at the Great School, where he taught botany as part of the natural history. After the establishment of the institution, a land was assigned to the Botanical Garden on Dorćol, along the Danube bank, which did not prove to be a good solution due to the proximity of the river and the possibility of being flooded. After the two major floods that occurred in those years and a completely destroyed plant life, Pančić was looking for a better place for the Botanical Garden. Unfortunately, the great naturalist, the hard-working enthusiast and the first director of the first botanical garden in Serbia died in 1888 and did not live to see the Botanical Garden placed safely in a new location.
Being aware of the problems Pančić had when raising the first botanical garden in Serbia, in 1889 King Milan Obrenović donated the property he inherited from his grandfather Lord Jevrem Obrenović to the Great School for the purpose of raising the Botanical Garden. The only condition was that the garden was named after his grandfather - Jevremovac. ''

Belgrade Serbia Part 3 ~ Republic Square area, St Mark's Church, Ambar chat & SPLAV!
[srpski ispod]
Thanks for coming to see part three of our travels round Belgrade in Serbia. This travelog includes:
National Assembly
St Mark’s Church
Republic Square
Knez Mihailova (main shopping street)
A quick chat in Ambar
Latino tunes on a splav!
Passion, parties and beautiful sunsets… what’s not to love about this place? Try some burek (flakey pastry filled with meat, or cheese) it costs less than £1 and filled us up for the rest of the day. We see the scars of conflict in contrast to the controversial riverside development ‘Belgrade Waterfront’.
…still trying to convince Ami to move here!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hvala što ste došli da vidite deo tri naših putovanja u Beogradu u Srbiji. Ova uključuje:
Narodna skupština
Crkva Svetog Marka
Trg republike
Knez Mihailova (glavna šoping ulica)
Brzi ćaskanje u Ambaru
Latino zvuči na splavu!
Strast, zabave i prelepi zalasci sunca ... šta ne voli za ovo mesto? Probajte neki burek (napunjeno mesom ili sirom) košta manje od 1 funti i nas napuni do kraja dana. Vidimo ožiljke konflikta nasuprot kontraverznom razvoju rijeke Belgrade Waterfront.

Cao for now Belgrade ~ KC Grad, Museum of Yugoslav History, Zemun and final thoughts
[srpski ispod]
Sad times... it's the final part of this trip to Belgrade in Serbia. We're taking you to:
The Residence of Princess Ljubica
KC Grad
Museum of Yugoslav History
House of Flowers (where Josef Broz Tito and his wife Jovanka Broz are buried)
Zemun
Finishing with some notes from final thoughts!
We've loved every minute of discovering this great city, there's still plenty to see, so I'm planning another visit in early December to see the Christmas Markets and probably freeze my bits off... but it'll be worth it I'm sure :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To je poslednji deo ovog putovanja u Beograd u Srbiji. Vidimo:
Rezidencija princeze Ljubice
KC Grad
Muzej istorije Jugoslavije
Kuća cvijeća
Zemun
