Toowoomba (nicknamed 'The Garden City') is a city in the Darling Downs region in the Australian state of Queensland. It is located 125 km (78 mi) west of Queensland's capital city Brisbane by road.[4] The estimated urban population of Toowoomba as of June 2015 was 114,622.[1] A university and cathedral city, it hosts the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers each September and national championship events for the sports of mountain biking and motocross. There are more than 150 public parks and gardens in Toowoomba.[5] It has developed into a regional centre for business and government services. It is also referred to as the capital of the Darling Downs.[5]
It is the 16th-largest city in Australia and the sixth-largest in Queensland after Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Cairns. Toowoomba is the most populous inland city in the country after the national capital of Canberra.[6]
Last year, emergency measures have been taken as a heat wave was 330 million people affected by the drought. Schools and hospitals were closed and then had to move hundreds of families from villages to towns where there was water available.
The aftermath of cyclone Debbie cause major problems in eastern Australia. Although the hurricane has now weakened to a storm, floods caused by the heavy rain in many places. Rescuers can reach difficult areas in the states of Queensland and New South Wales.
Near Mackay city came two days 1,000 millimeters rain down, while it usually falls in a year in 1500 to 2500 millimeters, say Australian meteorologists. In the Netherlands, an annual average of 800 mm.
The bad weather are households without electricity and roads are inaccessible. In the flood areas in Queensland are certainly all schools closed until the weekend, because the floods pose a threat to teachers, pupils and their parents for example.
Rainfall is also for the rescuers now the main problem, says correspondent Robert Portier. Some flooding areas are inaccessible, making it impossible to wipe or recover the power and telephone lines clean streets. Partly because we also have a good idea of the damage wrought by the hurricane. Even though we have seen enough pictures of ships smacked on shore and roofs blown off.

Yowie Sighting (Audio Report #71) at Jimbour, Queensland
Roadside Yowie Sighting by three witnesses as they drove their truck home one night after work.
The creature was standing on the side of the road, seemingly stunned by the headlights of the vehicle with its hand on a tree as if ready to run across the road.
5ft tall with 4 scruffy hair covering the entire body. The eyes reflected a yellow colour in the beam of the headlights.

THE NEW AUSTRALIAN DREAM
EXPRESS 28 DAY SALE: ALL OFFERS PRESENTED 4.00PM 5th DECEMBER 2018 (UNLESS SOLD PRIOR)
We all know tourism is a huge part of the Australian economy and a vital industry in the Margaret River region. So it is quite understandable that the hottest question on everybody's lips when it comes to real estate in Margaret River is. Can we do holiday rentals from this property?
Well the answer for this property is yes!
Located just a stone's throw from the tourist trail of Caves Road, the main artery which introduces everyone to our world famous wineries, spectacular national parks and pristine coastline
Sitting on 1 hectare of land and cleverly set up as an interconnected duplex with 2 full kitchens, 10 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Complete with shire approval for short stay until 2022, making it the perfect property to invest in your future. Live in one side and holiday rent the other or open up the connecting door and you have one massive family home.
It's your choice!
Set in a classic Australian landscape this stunning home epitomises the resurgence of Australian Bush Architecture incorporated with our very own Margaret River style. Using a clever mix of materials such as bush poles, rough saw hardwood timbers, handmade mud bricks and beautiful wooden joinery, this home is clearly designed for the natural surroundings of our rugged eucalypt forest.
With an essential North, South aspect the home takes in an elevated aspect overlooking the fabulous bush setting, combined with an amazing array of local flora and fauna it is perfect for the international tourist trade, weekend escape from the city or just the best place to live in the world.
Both connecting dwellings are an exact mirror image with 2 bedrooms upstairs and 3 bedrooms down stairs with a bathroom on both levels. Soaring ceilings, large windows and skylights allow light to sift through and warm the home. Quality fittings throughout with exceptional Jarrah timbers, some of which is cut from the block.
Down stairs is largely open plan with a beautiful big country kitchen with a massive Jarrah slab bench top, it's a real show stopper. The living area is very spacious and warmed by an ambient wood fire. But the winning combination for me is, the use of lovely Jarrah bi fold doors that open the home up allowing a natural flow between inside living and outside entertaining, with the forest backdrop this is the focal point of the home.
The second floor is a large mezzanine overlooking all the action both inside and out, also a great place to escape for a bit of solitude and catch some rays on the relaxing north facing balcony.
This home truly is a master stroke of Margaret River style, with so many different options and opportunities. It is definitely not one to be missed.
