Not at lot of people know about Jindaiji temple, it is kind of a hidden spot here in Tokyo. But funnily it is the 2nd largest temple in all of Tokyo. Everyone who visits Tokyo heads for MejiJingu which is fantastic but Jindaiji has the added bonus of also having a traditional Japanese town. Which makes you feel like you have stepped back in time to the Edo period.
The town itself is famous for soba noodles and has many restaurants, in which you can enjoy awesome views and even better food.
If you are traveling to Tokyo and you want to see a fantastic example of Japanese traditional temples then you need to see Jindaiji.

Super OLD & SECRET Temple in Tokyo | Japan's Hidden Travel Spot Jindaiji 深大寺
Jindaiji temple is a hidden temple in Tokyo, not only is it one of the biggest temples in Tokyo, but it is also the second oldest! This place is crazy beautiful!

The site is in Japanese but there is an English option for you guys.
This isn't just one temple, Jindaiji consists of an old style traditional town (that sells a very special type of soba that is famous all around Japan). It actually has 6 individual temples that make up the entire area of Jindaiji. It can take you about 2 hours to get around everything.
On top of that there is a botanical garden that you can visit that will run you only 200 yen to enter and will take you an extra 3 hours to get around. Definitely a great tourism spot to put on your travel itinerary!
Getting to the area is made quite easy by the cheap bus ran by the Keio line that can pick you up from either Tsutsujigaoka, Shibasaki, or Chofu's train stations. If you are looking for things to do in Tokyo, then look no further than this.
This is one Josh's favorite places to visit in Japan, it makes for a great hidden travel spot that you can show off to your friends. The major appeal of this place is the beautiful natural environment; making it an amazing photography spot for pros and amateurs alike! Definitely an Instagram hot spot.

Walking in Tokyo - Jindai-ji Temple - Tokyo's best kept secret? 深大寺. 4K
Jindai-ji is a goregous bhuddist temple located in the outkirts of Tokyo, and one of this citys best kept secrets. Compared to the tourist magnet of Senso-ji in Asakusa, this temple is not just much more beautiful and atmospheric. It is also almost completely devoid of tourists!
Part of the reasons why there aren't as many people here, is because of it's location. It's by no means difficult to get to it, but Chofu, the suburb where Jindai-ji is located, is located about 30 minutes from central Tokyo (Shinjuku), and there aren't many other well-known sightseeing spots nearby.
But if you have half a day to spare, a stroll around in these beautiful temple grounds and a meal at one of the many charming restaurants located around it, comes highly recommended!

Walking in Marunouchi and then dinner at Tokyo Station for yakitori at Torishige on the 12th floor of Daimaru (but not as good as the lunch I had there on my last trip, so I’m probably not going to repeat eating here.)

I went on a short trip to Nagoya and visited Atsuta Shrine. The autumn leaves were wonderful and I recommend going during the fall. However, shrines are great places to go all year-round to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Soba (そば) noodles are noodles made of buckwheat flour, roughly as thick as spaghetti, and prepared in various hot and cold dishes. Soba dishes are very popular and easily available nationwide. As 100% buckwheat soba noodles tend to be brittle, many restaurants add some wheat flour when preparing their noodles. Depending on the shop, the percentage of buckwheat flour in soba noodles typically ranges between 40% and 100%.
