第13集 Jinguashi & Jiufen / 雨天漫步金瓜石與九份 | TAIWAN VLOG
Farah & Kyle explore Taiwan's gold museum in Jinguashi then stop by Jiufen to enjoy delicious food and magnificent views. They try various traditional Taiwanese snacks and get to see the famous stairs that was used as an inspiration for the Anime film Spirited Away.
This is probably our favorite place that we have visited in Taiwan thus far. Make sure to check it out if you ever visit!

New Taipei City: Ruifang, Jiufen, Jinguashi, Shifen

We stayed one night in Jiufen. Around 9-10pm, the shops started closing and the famous red lenterns street became less crowed and we enjoyed quite moment there.
The accommodation we stayed in Jiufen was very good.
We put the link below so if you have a chance to stay there, do not miss out breakfest watching amazing view of Jiufen.
After breakfest, we took a bus to Jinquashi to check the Golden Waterfall and finished our trip in Shifen Old Street.

Unique Golden Waterfall and The Gold Museum, Taiwan
Taiwan’s Golden Waterfall is regarded as one of the most popular tourist attractions.
Due to deposits of heavy metal that seep through the old mines and form a residue in the riverbed, the water of the Golden Waterfall has a yellow hue.
The area around the waterfall was used for gold mining during the Japanese occupation
(1895-1945)
The 13-story Mine Selection Plant ruin has faded in with the surrounding fauna.
Once visitors pass through the entrance of the Gold Museum, they are taken into the past.
Visitors can even use authentic tools to grind minerals at the museum.
From the distance, beautiful mountains overlook the old gold mine and the gold museum.
An old track guides visitors to the Gold Building, at the Gold Museum.
Part of the museums expiation peace’s is a 99.9 percent pure gold bar, weighing over 480lb (over 217 kg).
The precious peace is worth about US$9million.
And if visitors would like to get a feel of how it was to work in the mine, they can walk through an original mining tunnel with wax-works.

十三層選礦廠遺址(前台金公司煉銅廠)於1933年興建，
日治時期為處理礦砂生產粗銅的選礦煉製場，
當時為亞洲第一大選礦廠，可能超過千人甚至萬人一起在這寫下這段故事，
台金公司1987年歇業後，現在委由台電接管，選礦廠已走入歷史。
選礦廠見証了金瓜石的起落興衰，也是金瓜石採銅礦業的見証

Gold Ecological Park located at Jinguashi area which is about 10-15mins from Jiufen Old Street. This huge eco park is free entry. You will be able to see history buildings and local culture in person. Two popular avtivities: gold panning and tunnel experience required fee but worthy. On the other side of the mountain is Jinguashi. Although originally this was a gold mining town, later on copper mines were also discovered here. Qitang Road is the biggest shopping street in Jinguashi, selling a lot of sundry goods. In contrast to Jiufen, a place that has recovered its old-time appeal, Jinguashi has kept to its original elements. Jiufen is a bustling tourist attraction. But just two or three years ago Jinguashi took the step of reconstructing the Gold Museum. To encourage community development, the village is building up a new program that includes exploration tours or country vacations. Right now, the Gold Museum is the centerpiece of Jinguashi, and many people look at Jinguashi differently now because of the museum. The Japanese set up many facilities and dorms when they came here to mine gold during the colonial period. 60 years have passed since they left, and some have been left in ruins while others survived the ravages of time. Thanks to private and government action, the Gold Museum was built to protect these precious historic and cultural heirlooms. With the splendor of the city of gold now little more than a flash in the memory, Jiufen and Ginquashi, after decades of emptying the mineral ores, awakened to a whole new look, and they are re-inviting the world to discover new treasures in this romantic gold-mining and mountain town culture.

A Scenic View from Jinguashi, Taiwan
Jinguashi, located in the Ruifang District of New Taipei City, is famous for its gold and copper mines. The direct translation of the name is translates to “Gold Melon Rock”, as according to history, the place is famous for its vast gold mine in the late 19th to early 20th century. After the mines dried up and the gold rush ended, the area still remains intact with stunning images of a past era, during year 2002; it was also nominated for the honor of UNESCO World Heritage site. Situated between the mountains and the coastline, Jinguashi boasts exceptionally beautiful scenery.
