ANCIENT WATER TOWN |NanXun南浔| HUZHOU | VLOG| 湖州|中国 | WATER VILLAGE | Beautiful places in china |
Here is my 2nd day in Huzhou. what a 2-day trip comes to an end...
Nanxun Ancient Town is not as famous as other water towns in South China, such as Zhouzhuang, Tongli, and Wuzhen. It is thanks to this that Nanxun has managed to retain its original features and traditional culture. It is recognized as the most authentic and tranquil water town.
With a history of over 1,400 years, the town came to prominence during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127–1279) due to its prospering silk industry. In the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), it was one of the important commercial centers.
WHY NANXUN??
Nanxun Water Town shares the typical features of other southern water towns: arched bridges, canals, narrow lanes, and old houses. But, for several reasons, Nanxun is the pick of the crop.
Nanxun is one of the relatively least visited water towns in the area. You won't find the huge crowds that swarm Zhouzhuang, Tongli, or Wuzhen. You can visit it at your own pace.
This town is less commercialized than many of its competitors. It is more authentic and soulful. You will see local people washing clothes, sipping tea, or playing cards beside the water.
The town has an interesting mix of European styles, which makes this place a little different from other water towns.
Besides sightseeing, you will be provided with rich cultural experience, such as making Chinese writing brushes.

Zhujiajiao Ancient Town (Shanghai’s Venice)
Located in a suburb of Shanghai city, Zhujiajiao is an ancient water town well-known throughout the country, with a history of more than 1700 years. Covering an area of 47 square kilometers, the little fan-shaped town glimmers like a bright pearl in the landscape of lakes and mountains.
Endowed with another elegant name - 'Pearl Stream' - the little town is the best-preserved among the four ancient towns in Shanghai. Unique old bridges across bubbling streams, small rivers shaded by willow trees, and houses with courtyards attached all transport people who have been living amidst the bustle and hustle of the modern big city to a brand-new world full of antiquity, leisure and tranquillity.
Bridges in the Town
It is said that to visit Zhujiajaio without seeing the bridges means that you have not really been to Zhujiajiao at all! Bridges here are distinctive and old, built during Ming and Qing Dynasties. The old town is thoroughly connected by 36 delicate spans in different shapes and styles, from wooden to stone to marble.
Fangsheng Bridge (Setting-fish-free Bridge) is the longest, largest and tallest stone bridge, with five openings both in Shanghai region. This bridge was built in 1571. On the bridge stands a stone tablet named Dragon Gate Stone, which is engraved with 8 coiling dragons encircling a shining pearl. On top of the bridge are 4 lifelike stone lions.
Lang Bridge (Veranda Bridge), also named Huimin Bridge, is the only wooden bridge and the most featured span in this town. It has wooden bars on the two sides and upturned eaves above, just like a narrow corridor.
North Street - Ancient Street
In the town, there is an ancient street filled with representative ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, attracting great numbers of domestic and foreign visitors. That is North Street, which is the best preserved ancient street in this suburb. Only one kilometer long, the whole street is at once primitively simple, yet very elegant. Strolling on this ancient thoroughfare and appreciating the historic buildings, long-established stores, and old bridges as well as the many narrow lanes is another enjoyment.
Take the following bus routes and get off at Zhujiajiao Bus Station first. Then walk west around 0.6 miles to arrive at the scenic area.

Pingle Ancient Town (平乐古镇)
While there's enough to see and do in Chengdu to stay there for at least three days, it's great to escape the big city and get out to explore a small town. Pingle Ancient Town is the perfect place to go. Relax in a teahouse down by the river, hike up a Buddhist mountain, visit a Qing Dynasty-era family compound, and walk in the Bamboo Sea.

Forgotten Elders Xitang Water Village
Our values have changed, our middle age and young generation is now focus very much in the shopping and games and social media networking.
The real connections like these elders are connecting with each other is lost.
I spent 3 hours just observing and sitting along side to see how many would stop by and buy or even smile with the elders.
Non the answer is no one stopped to even look what they were selling.
Some made question with the elderly man, on main passage section, on the side walk where many ladies were selling head wear and vegetable no one was interested.
