Events being held to promote Korea′s famous Hadong tea

Hadong tea is a beverage that has been enjoyed in Korea for centuries.
Known for its ability to melt stress away，... fans of the drink have been celebrating the tea′s official recognition as part of Korea′s agricultural heritage.

Grown in Korea′s Gyeongsangnam－do Province，... Hadong tea is well－known for its ability to calm the mind and promote well－being.
To this day it′s highly praised，… as seen in this event where some 300 participants reenact a parade to offer the tea to the king.
It′s celebrating the recent inscription of Hadong tea as Korea′s sixth Nationally Important Agricultural Heritage.
″The famous tea is offered to any participant in today′s event. More will be offered at another event， the 19th Hadong Tea Festival， which will run for four days from May 22nd.″
The festival will be held at the cultivation site of the Hadong tea leaves.
The area is known for its stunning views... surrounded by Jirisan Mountain and shoreline of the Hallyeohaesang National Park.
The event is also expected to boost the number of foreign tourists， particularly those from China.
″Around three－thousand Chinese tourists have visited the Hadong area already this year. They come to get the authentic experience of healing one′s mind and body by enjoying our tea and tea leaves.″
The local government says it plans to try and register Hadong tea as a globally important agricultural heritage in the near future.

A Feast of Spring in Hadong
Let's go to Hadong, and drive along the Seomjingang River.
Hadong is famous for local dishes such as king crab soup and clear shellfish soup. However, its cherry blossom road is incomparable to any other tourist attractions in Korea.
During the period when the flowers are in full bloom, the entire area is crowded with numerous tourists and couples. According to legend, if a couple walks on this road holding hands with each other, they can live in love forever. That's why this road is also called 'Wedding Road.'
Designated as one of the 100 most beautiful roads in Korea, the breathtaking vista of this road attracts many tourists passing nearby.

The winding watercourse of Hwagaecheon Stream flows into the Seomjingang River.
Travel in Hadong will be much more interesting with a cup of green tea. The Hadong Tea Culture Center displays diverse items regarding tea culture of Korea. As one of the first green tea plantation areas, Hadong has been at the center of the history and culture of green tea in Korea. Its taste was so highly regarded that the kings often enjoyed green tea from this region as well.
Hwagae Market is located near the Seomjingang River at the foot of Jirisan Mountain.
All the residents from nearby villages gather at this marketplace.
So many local delicacies are available here.
You can purchase anything you want from various wild vegetables to herbal water.
Two regions of Gyeongsang-do and Jeolla-do can be united as one at this market.

경남 하동군 지리산 쌍계사 북동쪽 계곡에 있는 폭포. 지리산국립공원 내 있는 자연폭포로 높이가 60m에 이르는 폭포이다. 우리나라 폭포 중에서 비교적 큰 규모를 가진 곳이다. 또한 이곳은 지리산 10경의 하나에 속한다.
A waterfall in the northeast vally of Jirisan(Mt.) Ssanggyesa Temple in Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. It is a natural waterfall in Jirisan National Park. It is a 6pm high waterfall. It is relatively large waterfall in Korea. It is also one of the 10 views od Jirisan.

[TV ZONE] A heavenly pagoda over the clouds Sancheong Beobgyesa Three-storey Stone Pagoda
Beopgyesa Temple below the Cheonwangbong Peak at the summit of Mount Jiri is said to be a temple which is located at the highest place in Korea. Legend has it that the temple was built by Ven. Yeongijosa in the 5th year(544) of King Jinheung in the Shilla Dynasty.
In the precincts of the temple, there is one pagoda whose stereobate is a big stone as it is.
Let's meet the pagoda, located at the highest place in Korea which Cheonwangbong Peak, the mountaintop of Mt. Jiri embraces.
