実相寺の山高神代桜　さくらさくら　 Cherry Blossoms

山梨県北杜市武川町（旧武川村）の実相寺境内にある樹齢2000年日本最古ともいわれるエドヒガンザクラの老木です。国指定の天然記念物で、正式指定名称は山高神代桜（やまたかじんだいざくら）です。
日本五大桜または三大巨桜の1つで1922年（大正11年）10月12日には国の天然記念物に、平成2年6月に新日本名木百選に指定されました。
日本武尊が東征の際、この桜を植えたといわれています。また、鎌倉時代、日蓮がこの木の衰えているのを見て、祈ったところ蘇ったという伝説があります。
