Jodogahama Beach ( Prefectural place of scenic beauty ) ( Miyako City )
Jodogahama Beach, or Pure Land Beach, is one of the most famous places of scenic beauty on the Rikuchu Coast. The vivid contrast of the sharp, white rocks, green pines, and deep blue sea has been compared to the Pure Land or Paradise by a Buddhist monk named Reikyo, hence the name Jodogahama. It is listed in Japan's 100 Best Beaches, 100 Best Beaches for Swimming, 100 Scents of Japan, to name a few.
It is indeed a great beach for swimming, with clean water and gentle waves. There are facilities such as a bus terminal building, a marine house, a rest house, as well as a boat rental service. Look out for crabs and small fish in the tide pools along the esplanade from the beach to the marine house!

This is my last vlog in Japan???? We went to Jodogahama in Miyako, Iwate prefecture from Akita city. Miyako Bay is part of a national park and also a well-known attractions for the locals. We joined one of the boat tour and visited the Blue Grotto!

陸中海岸には、まだまだいっぱいビュースポットがあります。
でも、あたしたちはこの浄土ヶ浜で最後です。
この後盛岡まで行かなきゃならんもんですから。
浄土ヶ浜は、この辺ではナンバーワンスポットと思ってました。
山王岩、潮吹き穴が絶景でしたから、期待してましたよ。
ナンバーワンだけに、大勢がやってきているんでしょうね。
駐車場はいっぱい。
停めることができたのは、山の上の駐車場。
はるばる階段を下りて浜まで行きます。
浜は海水浴場なんですねぇ。
白いのこぎりみたいな岩がシンボルなんでしょう。
あんまりよく調べていかなかったから、ベストなビューポイントが他にもあるのかもしれませんが行ってません。
駐車場までの帰り道はつらかったぁ。
長い上り坂の後に109段の階段。
これはつらい。
この後の盛岡ではわんこそばを食べることはないんですよ、実は。

A Cinema for the Iwate Coast!
To bring some entertainment to those who have lost so much since the Great Tōhoku Earthquake and ensuing tsunami, the manager of the last remaining cinema along the coast of Iwate prefecture runs a traveling cinema project, setting up movie screenings in far-flung seaside villages.
Every little bit makes a difference.

Jodogahama is a small cove with white rocks in Miyako, Iwate. It is said to be one of the top 100 places to see in Japan. The names translates as Pure land
3-D landscape of a valley at Aneyoshi, Miyako City in Japan after the 2011 tsunami
Detailed landforms of a coastal valley at Aneyoshi, NE Japan, was measured by terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) in 2011 and 2012. The gigantic tsunami invaded into this valley to record more than 40 m of its run-up height. Airphotos and topographic data used for the wide-area 3D landscape model at the beginning and ending of this movie are provided by Geospatial Information Authority of Japan. The point cloud obtained by TLS contains more than 10 millions of measured points of the landscape in the valley, showing some unique topographic features formed by tsunami erosion.

浄土ヶ浜周遊バス Free beach shuttle bus Jodogahama
岩手県宮古市浄土ヶ浜を走る無料シャトルバス（ボンネットパス）です。震災の影響で海沿いの遊歩道が閉鎖されている為、駐車場から奥浄土が浜へ行くにはシャトルバスに乗るか１５分程歩いて行くしかありませんが、ボンネットバスで行くのもなかなか面白いですよ。
