Knysna South Africa - The Heart of the Garden Route | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
Located on South Africa’s famous Garden Route, Knysna (pronounced as ‘ny-zah’), is one of the country’s most famous locations. It is a natural paradise of lush, indigenous forests, tranquil lakes, wildlife and golden beaches. The breathtakingly pretty lagoon is now a protected marine reserve that is home to the extraordinary sea horse and over 200 species of fish.
The endangered Knysna seahorse is named after the town and can be spotted during a good snorkeling session in the estuary.
We really enjoyed the view from the heads - a striking geological spot made up of a pair of huge, brightly coloured cliffs lying at the mouth of the lagoon, flanking a channel of potentially treacherous water that flows into Knysna lagoon. We were told that from the banks of the rocks we could see whales because Knysna is on the migratory route of the Southern Right and other species but unfortunately we weren't able to see one these marine mammals.
Enjoy the video and let us know where you’re watching from!

Culture war brews over S.African golden rhino figurine
For years, South Africa's apartheid government ignored the significance of a golden rhino figurine that provides undeniable proof of a sophisticated society existing before white men arrived. But since the end of racist rule in 1994, the stunning object -- just 15 millimetres (six inches) long and more than 700 years old -- has become a defining symbol of precolonial civilisation in South Africa.

STORYLINE
Africa must be given a greater role in the governing of world economies or run the risk of further exploitation, French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin said on Friday.
Villepin was in South Africa on an African tour seen as a bid to strengthen France's ties with the continent before a Franco-African summit in Paris next year.
The French Prime Minister visited Soweto and the Walter Sisulu Freedom Square before holding talks with President Thabo Mbeki in Pretoria. He is expected to leave on Saturday.
Villepin repeated his call for a World Economic Council of heads of states that would be charged with building an approach to help Africa meet its challenges.
He also stressed the historical ties between France and Africa and said slavery must be forgotten.
He added his country had demonstrated its support for efforts to bring peace to Africa with 10,000 French military personnel deployed on the continent.
Villepin paid tribute to South Africa for the challenges the country had overcome and its position as one of Africa's regional powerhouses.
