2013 ASLSP note change
This is a video of the October 5, 2013 note change that took place as part of the 639-year-long performance of John Cage's As SLow aS Possible (ASLSP) at the St. Buchardi church in Halberstadt, Germany. The note that had been playing since July 5, 2012 is very quiet and hard to hear in this video, but the 3 notes that make up the new chord are clear.

As slowly as possible writes John Cage on his score to indicate the tempo of his composition for organ, Organ2/ASLSP. In a deconsecrated church in the small tow of Halberstadt, East Germany, the piece is being played without interruption since 2001, and will continue until the year 2640, resulting in a 639-year long concert. Each of its notes lasts several months or years, and each change of note becomes a mystical event. What does as slowly as possible mean? In a humorous but also thoughtful way the film shows the people working on this astounding project. A film about humanity's perception of time, but also about the human condition, the essence of the music and the art of filming. Because, as one of the project's initiators say, We do not have time, we are time, in each moment.
I wanted to enter this world -- that is surreal but fascinating to me -- and try to find out what makes these people believe and support this project, investing plenty of money and their precious time to never hear the end of the performance. (A. Miruna Lazarescu)
