Heart Creek Bunker Hike (4K) | Journey Alberta
Today my friend Jesse and I do the hike to the Heart Creek Bunker, located near the Heart Creek Trail. It's an easy trek that most people could do to an old unfinished cave that was being excavated at the height of the Cold War to house Canada's most important documents. The trailhead is easy to find, it's at the Lac Des Arcs turnoff on the number 1 highway before Canmore and Dead Man's Flats.

Overnight hike to Petain Falls in Elk Lakes provincial park, BC - Shoulder season backpacking
Chef Evan Robertson and I packed extra gear to deal with the cold temperatures expected in the Canadian Rockies during the shoulder season (Oct-Nov). Even also packed extra groceries for episode 3 of our Gourmet Cooking in the Backcountry series. We're still experimenting with the concept, and we have lots of good ideas.
We laced our boots and drove to the trail head near Kananaskis Lake in Peter Lougheed Park. Our ultimate destination is the magnificent Petain Falls. Mount Pétain is located on the border of Alberta and British Columbia on the Continental Divide. It was named in 1918 after Marshal Philippe Pétain - at the time an honored war hero by Canadians as well as by other World War I allies. The name was retained despite the later reversal in Pétain's reputation after his having been Head of State of Vichy France.
The snow-capped mountain can also be reached from Height of the Rockies Provincial Park.
From Peter Lougheed park we hiked to the Alberta / British Columbia border and crossed into Elk Lakes provincial parks. This is one of the newest provincial parks in the Rockies.
We stayed overnight at a decommissioned campground just west of the Upper Elk Lake. The next day we hiked to the falls before heading back home via a slightly different route.
4K Virtual Forest Walk - Johnston Canyon Banff - Relax Music
Scenic virtual walk / hike in Johnston Canyon ( Banff, Alberta, Canada). As Johnston Creek approaches the Bow River, it flows through a large canyon formed by erosion over thousands of years. The creek has cut through the limestone rock to form sheer canyon walls, as well as waterfalls, tunnels, and pools.

A popular hiking trail follows the canyon and leads to a meadow within the Johnston Valley above the canyon. The first part of the trail consists of a constructed walkway with safety rails and bridges, while the last part of the trail is natural and more rugged. Within the meadow are the Ink Pots, which are six blue-green spring-fed pools. Wikipedia

Exploring the Trans Alta Road in 4K | Journey Alberta
My friend Jesse and I explore the Trans Alta Road near Waiporous. We head far down it to have a fire and roast up some hot dogs. We check out some spots that seem like they would be excellent for camping later this year. We head all the way to the end of the road and down into the river bed, where we drive up to a huge rock face that might make a good camping spot if it's not windy.

Johnston Creek Adventure!! | Hiking | Frozen Falls

Ice climbing is a popular activity on the frozen waterfalls in winter.
A tourist lodge and large parking area is located at the foot of the canyon, close to the creek mouth, along the Bow Valley Parkway (Highway 1A).

Travel reminds those paying attention that they are not the only man in the world, that this is a huge world and that they are only a small, insignificant human in it. This is quite a leisure experience – to go to another country or another state and see large numbers of peoples living differently, and coming to understand how large the world actually is. When people who learn return home, they keep with them this perspective for the rest of their life and they benefit from this is knowledge and perspective.
Another benefit to traveling is coming to see one’s native country in a different light, in a different way. This is done through being able to compare and contrast home from a foreign location, done most always through traveling. A new perspective may be formed
Grotto Canyon Hike 2019 | Journey Alberta
Hey everyone, I'm back! It's been a while, but I'm back with a new video of one of my favourite hikes I do annually, Grotto Canyon in the Bow Valley Provincial Park! It's an easy trail that takes my girlfriend and I into a canyon. We walk along a frozen creek and see the Hopi tribe pictographs on the rock walls as well as the ice waterfalls at the end of the trail.

The main featured spots in the video are:
Town of Banff and surrounding area, Lake Louise, Town of Golden and surrounding area, Johnston Canyon etc...
The Town of Banff was the first municipality to incorporate within a Canadian national park. It is a resort town and one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations, known for its mountainous surroundings and hot springs. It is a destination for outdoor sports and features extensive hiking, biking and skiing.
Lake Louise is a glacial lake within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Fairmont's Chateau Lake Louise, one of Canada's grand railway hotels, is located on Lake Louise's eastern shore. It is a luxury resort hotel built in the early decades of the 20th century by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Johnston Creek is a tributary of the Bow River in Canada's Rocky Mountains. The creek is located in Banff National Park. A popular hiking trail follows the canyon and leads to a meadow within the Johnston Valley above the canyon. The first part of the trail consists of a constructed walkway with safety rails and bridges, while the last part of the trail is natural and more rugged.
I've had a great time visiting Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre in the vicinity of the town of Golden. This wolf sanctuary and it's instructors, armed with their wealth of knowledge, give the centre's visitors a true depiction of these majestic and reclusive creatures.
I've also had the pleasure of spending the night at the Mount 7 Lodges near golden BC. The hosts were splendid as well as the accommodation. The views...spectacular!
Unfortunately, the weather during the time of the shoot was less than perfect with extended periods of cloudiness and rain. However, even under those conditions, a visit is highly recommended!
