Iceland - Jökulsárlón Lagoon
Admire the ever growing glacial lake of Iceland known as Jökulsárlón Lagoon.
The largest and most well-known of Iceland's glacial lakes, Jökulsárlón Lagoon is located at the end of the Vatnajokull glacier. The lagoon has been growing since its formation in 1935, having increased in size fourfold since the 1970s. The scenery at Jökulsárlón is constantly changing due to glacial melt, making it a new experience every time you visit.

Top locations in Iceland: Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon
Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, 'The Crown Jewel of Iceland,' is famed for glittering icebergs, playful seal colonies and stunning views of the adjacent glacier.
At Jokulsarlon, you will be left speechless and enthralled at the sight of diamond-blue icebergs bobbing and moving gracefully through the water, the glacier tall and mighty in the background. Many of you might recognise the glacier from such films as Tomb Raider and James Bond: Die Another Day! If not, you’ll certainly recognise the feeling of peace and tranquillity that overcomes you on first sight of the icebergs.

???? Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon (Iceland)
A visit to the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in Iceland including a Zodiac trip to the face of Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and overnight camping beside the outlet of the lagoon to watch the ice blocks flow out to the ocean.
A Visit to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon in December 2016
This is our Day 2 visit to the icy landscape of Iceland, After an overnight stay in Klaustur, we left for Jokulsarlon which is at the south eastern edge of Vatnajokull National Park. It was a tricky drive in the dark morning because of the snow covered road with the passing oncoming traffic. The hilly landscape on the left compared with the flat land on the right which open to the ocean. Jokulsarlon consisted of the lake which formed by the melted glacier with floating icebergs. Later, we drove to the nearby blacksand beach with scattered ice blocks washed ashore by the Atlantic ocean.

We take a walk to the Sólheimasandur plane wreck, fly a drone over Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and go on a hunt for the Northern Lights!

Tour of Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon in Iceland
Jokulsarlon is a large glacial lake in southeast Iceland, on the edge of Vatnajökull National Park. Situated at the head of a glacier, it developed into a lake after the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
The lake has grown since then at varying rates because of melting of the glaciers. It is now 1mile away from the ocean's edge and covers an area of about 6.9 sq miles).
It recently became the deepest lake in Iceland, at over 248 m (814 ft), as glacial retreat extended its boundaries The size of the lake has increased considerably since the 1970s and It is considered as one of the natural wonders of Iceland.[6]
Jökulsárlón has been a setting for four Hollywood movies: A View to a Kill, Die Another Day, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Batman Begins

Iceland: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon By Drone (4K)
A flight over Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Ice lagoon with a DJI Mavic Pro drone.
The Glacier lagoon in Iceland is close to highway number one, about 370 km (230 miles) east from Reykjavík and it is told to be one of the greatest wonders of nature in Iceland.
This lagoon is a recent one, the result of a warming climate. The surface is at sea level and sea water flows into the lagoon at high tide.
Huge blocks of ice constantly break off the glacier, Breiðamerkurjökull, and large icebergs float on the lagoon. The lagoon is not very wide but it is up to 250 meters deep which makes it the deepest lake in Iceland. Breiðamerkurjökull is an outlet of the Vatnajökull glacier.
The Jökulsárlón Lagoon in Spring is beautiful as the Ice breaks into the sea and is also often known as the Ice Lagoon.
