Jomalig Island Paradise|Quezon Province
Jomalig Island... What can i say about this place... It has white and gold sand beaches, relatively untouched, oh and is a pain the butt to get there... but, at the end of the journey it is totally worth a visit!

JOMALIG ISLAND | GOLDEN BEACH OF THE PHILIPPINES ( Quezon Province)
HOW TO GET TO JOMALIG:
There are two ways on how to get to Quezon in just a few hours, either by bus or van service.
By bus:
* From Legarda, Manila, take Raymond Transportation bus bound for Infanta via Ungos (air-conditioned). Bus terminal is located at Sta.Teresita cor Legarda, Sampaloc, Manila (near Arellano University). Travel time is 4-5 hours depending on the road traffic condition.
By van:
* Just a walking distance from the Raymond bus terminal, you’ll see the van terminal that offers trips to Real, Quezon. Fare from Legarda to Ungos Port, Quezon is Php250 and the travel time will also take about 4-5 hours.
At Ungos Port, you need to ride a boat going to Jomalig. The boat fare is Php400 and this includes a free meal which will be prepared by the boatmen. There’s also a terminal fee of Php10. Boats from Ungos port depart as early as 5:00AM. Sailing time will take about 4-6 hours.
Once you reach Jomalig port, ride a habal-habal going to the chosen resort.
—
WHERE WE STAYED IN JOMALIG:
We checked in at Caparas Beach Resort, and the habal habal fare is Php150 from the port.
Contact number | Caparas Beach Resort: 09173578746
—
WHERE TO EAT IN JOMALIG:
Most of the homestays, lodges, and resorts include food services. Caparas Beach Resort offers meals which cost Php120-150 per person per meal. Masarap naman yung food & nakakabusog talaga. Solid! ????????
—
ROOM RATE:
Room rate in Caparas Beach Resort is Php1200/person.
—
REMINDERS:
Phone signals/mobile internet connection in Jomalig is intermittent. Mahirap din ang supply ng tubig sa Caparas, but there’s a water pump near the resort na pwede gamitin para mag-igib.
—
HABAL-HABAL TOUR:
The tour will take about 6 hours and the best time to start the tour is at 8:00AM. Fare is Php600.
—
BREAKDOWN OF EXPENSES (per head):
1,200 — room rate at Caparas beach resort
250 — van from legarda, manila to ungos port, quezon (one way)

THE JOURNEY: PROS & CONS
Manila to Jomalig Island. In addition to the 4 hours land trip, endure another 4-6 hours on a pumpboat. The boat has hardwood benches on the lower deck. Kinda impossible to rest or sleep comfortably even if you want to. On the upper deck, it has flat boards. You can lay down on it but have to endure the unbearable heat emanating from the tarp coverings.
The fare includes one meal (fatty pork with diced potato). Sorry mga kai-vegans ????.
JIMENEZ RESORTS:
PROS
- Very affordable fan kubos/tent pitching. As low as P75/head/night.
- Very tasty 'paluto' food (budget-friendly).
- Attentive care-takers.
- Beach front with the most awesome crystal-clear water.
CONS
- Deal with flies but thank goodness not a single mosquito.
- Neighboring guests were drinking until 2am. Playing guitar. Loud noise, laughing and screaming. Impossible to get a good night's sleep.
- No data signal, very intermittent internet if any at all. Text messaging is fine.
ISLAND HOPPING:
PROS
- Affordable at P350/head.
- Get to see awesome beaches of golden and white sand.
CONS
- The boat ride to the first spot is a long way, about 40 mins so you get anxiously bored.
- If you do the morning trip, you will miss the Boton sand bar and the Golden Sand of Sadong. Low tide occurs in the afternoon even if the boatman tells you otherwise. We did the morning but no sand bar. We requested to bring us back in the afternoon with no extra charge.
- The water in Boton sand bar has dark brown jellyfish. Some claim they give itch.
- The sand in Sadong beach gets really hot on the feet (at around noonish). Can't walk on it barefoot.
- The annoying entrance fees in every beach resorts.
HABALHABAL TOUR:
PROS
- Nice way to explore the Island's interior.
- Motorcycle rides are inherently exciting.
CONS
- Very steep charges at P750/head plus the annoying entrance fees in every beach resorts you visit. That can easily rack up to another P150 additional charges.
TIP
- Skip this tour all together if you've already done the Island hopping. It is basically the same. Do a habalhabal ride to the town instead. It only costs P75 per way from Salibungot. It's a good long ride half the island.
THE ISLAND IN GENERAL:
PROS
- To sum it up, it's an awesome place for island/beachbums, sun-worshippers, laid-back backpackers, instagrammers, vloggers, and out-of-towners.
CONS
- Disorganized port of entry/registration desk. P170/person
- No electricity from 5am to 1pm.
- It is summer so naturally it is hot. But the heat is unbearable from noon until before sunset. No breeze.

???? Food and Cooking
Buy your food supplies before going to the island. Although there is a market place in the island where you could buy your supplies, they can be pricey and pretty limited. Cookwares, cutlery and utensils can be borrowed from the resort.
If you would cook your own meal, a gas powered stove can be rented for P200-P300 depending on the number of people you will be cooking for.
Most of the resorts offer to cook meals for their visitors during their stay for a service fee of 100/meal/person.
???? Electricity and Mobile Signal.
Fully charge your phones, camera and other gadgets and bring extra batteries since electricity is not available 24 Hrs. Electricity service in the island start by 1pm to 5am.
There is reliable mobile signal in the island for both Globe and Smart Networks but can be intermittent in some areas.
❗Do's and Dont's.
To keep the island clean, camping overnight at the beach is prohibited. Visitors are required to book their stay with accredited resorts in the island.
Night swimming is strictly not allowed due to the recent incident of unfortunate death caused by drowning.
Leave no trace.
