JOMSOM & MUKTINATH ( Pulhashram Ytra ) Nepal
JOMSOM & MUKTINATH ( Pulhashram Ytra ) Nepal With SGVP Gurukul Parivar
Jomsom is a great place to start trekkking. The diverse landscapes and cultures to be found along the trekking routes give marvelous insight into the way of life of rural Nepali people.
The Hindu god, Brahma, is said to have lit the eternal flames that burn at Muktinath.
To Buddhists, Muktinath is a place where the great sage guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) came to meditate.
The area is a perfect place to find fossilized ammonites, known locally as Shaligram, which are found all along the upper reaches of Kali Gandaki.
This part of Nepal is inhabited by Gurungs and Magars in the lower regions of the Kali Gandaki, Thakalis around Jomsom and people with obvious Tibetan roots, the Lopa, around Muktinath and up to Mustang.
Their customs and attire are distinct and this trek is ideal for observing the diversity among the people and their customs. Hinduism dominates the lower parts while as one climbs further up, Tibetan Buddhism predominates.
If you happen to be in Muktinath in early September, you are likely to be in time for one of Nepal’s unique festivals, the annual horse race known as Yartung. This is a week of some serious horse racing, Tibetan style, and some equally serious merrymaking.
Most of the route along the Jomsom trek has been described as part of the Annapurna circuit and Annapurna foothill treks. The usual starting point is Naya Pul on the Pokhara to Baglung road and from there, via Ghorepani and Tatopani, into the gorge of the Kali Gandaki.
Between Tatopani and Lete Khola, there is a dramatic change of scenery. Pine forests crowd in on the trail and the villages take on a quite different appearance.
The layout of the villages and the design of the houses are unique to this area. The houses are designed to protect the inhabitants from the strong winds that blow up the valley everyday from the late morning onwards.
These winds are caused by differences in atmospheric pressure between the Tibetan plateau and the lower reaches of the valley. The best example of the unique architecture of this region is found in the village of Marpha which is a two-hour walk down from Jomsom.
The stone flagged streets with efficient underground drainage system and the flat-roofed houses with a central courtyard make an attractive spot to spend an extra day resting. Use the free time to sample apple products of this region from the lush orchards up in the valley.
Jomsom is best known for its airport that offers a quick entry or exit to the valley with regular daily flights from Pokhara. The strong winds that blow up the valley prevents flights from taking off from Jomsom after 11 a.m. Jomsom can also be considered a place to use as a base for exploring the upper part of the Kali Gandaki region. There are numerous accommodation options including a new high-class resort complex.
Majestic Mustang: Jomsom, Muktinath and Lo Manthang
Mustang (from the Tibetan möntang (Wylie: smon-thang), Nepali: मुस्तांग Mustāṃg fertile plain), formerly Kingdom of Lo, is a remote and isolated region of the Nepalese Himalayas. The Upper Mustang was a restricted demilitarized area until 1992 which makes it one of the most preserved regions in the world, with a majority of the population still speaking traditional Tibetic languages. Tibetan culture has been preserved by the relative isolation of the region from the outside world.

Jomsom Muktinath visit, Nepal October 2018
“You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.”
― Rabindranath Tagore
Jomsom is situated at an altitude of 2800 m and Muktinath at around 3800 m, both in Mustang district of Nepal. Most beautiful region I travelled so far in Nepal. Muktinath is a temple dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu but it's also has presence of Buddha making it a place of worship for both Hindus and Buddhists. Although the temple has a Vaishnava origin, it is also revered in Buddhism because guru padmasambhava meditated there for some time. Kagbeni is a village, about 12 km away from Muktinath and is in between Jomsom and Muktinath. It's one of the oldest village in Nepal.
Mustang Travel Vlog | Jomsom, Marpha, Muktinath Temple & 108 sacred taps
Me and my family planned to do Pokhara-Jomsom in one day and same while returning. From Pokhara, Jomsom is just 45 minutes flight away but flights may be delayed or cancelled because of poor weather conditions. We arranged a private 4x4 jeep, which took us 9 hours. Local microbuses are available from Pokhara-Beni-Ghasa-Tatopani-Jomsom but will take 13 to 15 hours. Riding a motorbike is the best option to reach Jomsom due to the rocky off road in places.
In Jomsom, there are numerous hotels, homestay, restaurants and souvenir shop. We stayed in Hotel Mustang Taj and Thakali Kitchen. I had the best Thakali meal ever and I would highly recommend Thakali crusine.
Marpha Village in Mustang District
Marpha is known famously as the apple capital of Nepal, with brandy, cider and jams produced from local fruits. The village homes are made from white stones, whereas doors and windows are outlined by cherrywood panels.
Visit The Holy Muktinath Temple
The holy site of Muktinath is sacred to both hindus and buddhists. Visitors will be offered a red tika to their forehead in blessing. Animal-headed spouts spitting holy water. The temple is about an hour hike from the car parking area in the village of ranipauwa or you can hire a pony to take you up.

KATHMANDU TO MUSTANG TRAVEL VLOG || ADVENTURE NEPAL ||
'' Fill your life with Adventures , not things ,have stories to tell not stuff to show ''.
Welcome to Nepal! Nepal is a beautiful landlocked country. Though it is small, the country has variations in landscapes from high, rocky Himalayan terrain, to green lustrous hills and flat, fertile Terai plains. The rich culture, scenic beauty, and heartwarming hospitality make Nepal a must-visit country. There are many ways one can opt to explore Nepal. However, to explore the Himalayan region, the best option is trekking. The Himalayan country of Nepal lies in Southern Asia. To the north is the autonomous region of Tibet, in the People’s Republic of China, and to the south is India. Roughly the shape of a rectangle, Nepal has a length of 885 km and a width ranging from 145 km to 241 km. Nepal also contains the largest mountain range on earth, the Himalayan Mountains. This creates an elevation profile that is one of the most extreme in the world. It ranges from a mere 70 meters above sea level to the highest point on earth, Mt. Everest at 8,848 meters. Because of this huge disparity in elevation all within a distance of 150 km, Nepal contains enormous climatic variations from sub-tropical to alpine. It is popularly known in the world for its incredible diversity of ecosystems. The high peaks of the Himalayas in the north quickly drops down to thick tropical jungles teeming with wildlife in the south on the way to the Ganges floodplain. Between the two extremes are glittering glaciers, thundering rivers, forested hills and terraced slopes. Besides an incredibly rich and diverse ecology, Nepal also has amazing cultural traditions. You can wonder at the exquisite craftsmanship and artistic ingenuity of the people then and now as you view the temples and historical palaces full of architectural value. Part of the religious and cultural fabric of Nepal is their numerous national and religious festivals. These festivals and ceremonies have been celebrated since time and can be seen at all times of the year. Nepal is also famously known for the warm hospitality given to every guest. For all who come to this mysterious realm awaiting you is an atmosphere of welcome and warmth. Nepal is a breathtaking and enchanting land of myths and legends to come, see, and experience.
