Bedouin Lamb Barbecue at Wadi Rum
Without doubt, Wadi Rum is one of the most beautiful deserts I’ve ever seen in my life. The landscapes are so other-worldly, that many movies that occur on Mars of the moon have been filmed there. Ond Day 7 of our trip to Jordan, we drove from Petra to Wadi Rum. We arrived just in time for lunch at Captain's Bedouin Desert Camp. It was a very rare cloudy and rainy day, and so we got some rain, and finally when it cleared we went on a desert safari in the back of a truck. The views were spectacular.
00:58 Drive from Petra to Wadi Rum - At the beginning of the day, we had breakfast at Movenpick and then started the drive, which only took a couple hours, to Wadi Rum. Along the way we stopped at a few rest stops to get some Arabic coffee, something I couldn’t resist.
2:04 Arriving to Wadi Rum - We arrived to Wadi Rum just in time for lunch and the first thing we did was check into Captain's Desert Camp, which is the Bedouin camp we stayed at for the night. As soon as we arrived we had lunch, and they served us a full spread of food including labneh and moutabel. The labneh in particular was very good. For our main dishes we had galayet with beef, a beef tomato stew, and also a dish called mfarakeh, which was scrambled eggs with potatoes. Lunch at Wadi Rum was delicious and after lunch, due to the rain, we took a short rest before heading out.
07:15 Wadi Rum tour - We hopped into the back of a truck, and started our Wadi Rum desert tour. The weather wasn’t the best, it was still kind of rainy, but at the same time that kind of added to make it a bit of an eerie environment. The view of Wadi Rum were spectacular, it truly is a unique and incredible desert to see in the world. We drove around and stopped at a number of different locations around the desert, taking in the scenery. After a two hour safari around Wadi Rum we returned to the camp.
11:15 Zarb Bedouin barbecue for dinner - For dinner we ate a dish called zarb, which is Bedouin style barbecue. Similar to other cultures, zarb is a variety of meat of vegetables that are cooked in an underground oven over charcoal. They first added a bed of hot coals to the underground oven, spread them out, then added in a shelf full of meat and vegetables. They covered it with a bunch of layers, and finally topped the oven with sand to keep in all the heat. It took about two hours to cook, and we came back for dinner to find soft and tender lamb, rice, and a variety of vegetables cooked in the zarb, that were all incredibly tender. Dinner in Wadi Rum was delicious, and I had some serious amounts of lamb!

Lost in Petra - Fun With a Bedouin in Jordan | Tribes
Petra in Jordan is truly one of the seven wonders of this world, a place where it is easy to lose yourself for days. And in this city cut into rock faces, I found LOST - a Bedouin who makes his living ferrying tourists on his mule.

Bedouin scammers in Petra/Jordan
The Bedouin scammers are „fishing for tourists“ mainly female travellers and are waiting for you right after the Siq in front of the treasury!
They follow you and involve you in conversations or if you do a tour with them they will invite you for dinner in a authentic Bedouin house, in a cave or the desert (Little Petra or Wadi Araba)! Sometimes they offer you to do a tour on a donkey/mule/camel for free! There have been cases of rape and sexual abuse that happened in Airbnb's - or in Wadi Araba and in the caves and many women suspected of being drugged!
They belong to five tribes, so they all know each other and the Bedouins in Petra are fraternized, cousins, brothers in law or otherwise related to each other!
The older ones are teaching the younger ones. They are not open minded and western, they don’t respect tourists and women! It’s all fake! So take care! #wallahimissyou #bedouin #bedouinscammers #petra #jordan .

The older ones are teaching the younger ones and even the children are already beginning to scam! These cases are going back to 2006/2008! They will tell you how they had to move from the caves in Petra to Umm Sayhoun, the village which was built by the government! This is actually true but they should work for real and not scam around! Everything they do is forbidden in Islam and in their culture it is a big taboo! They are not open minded and western, they don’t respect tourists and women! It’s all fake! Jordan's bedouin 'desert forces' on patrol
Throughout Jordan's harshest deserts, bedouin security forces working for the government have been a key part to the country's security for decades.
The so-called desert forces patrol about 82 per cent of Joran's land to guard against cross-border infiltration, weapon and drug smugglers.
Riding on camels in extreme weather conditions, the nomads have a rare capability and familiarity to manouver through the rugged and rough terrain.
Nisreen El-Shamayleh reports from Wadi Rum in southern Jordan, where she followed a group of the desert forces on patrol.

WADI RUM DESERT | Jordan travel vlog
We spent a night and a day in the Wadi Rum Desert, Jordan. We stayed in a traditional Bedouin camp and were treated to Bedouin cuisine cooked under the ground. The next day we went on a jeep tour around the Wadi Rum Desert and saw some of the most epic scenes, some of which were from 'The Martian' movie.

Places To visit in Jordan and Palestinian - wadi Rum, petra wadi Musa, Mount Temple, the dead sea
Nice night under a billions of stars
We had a great sty with our Bedouin Guide after Camel Riding and Shisha Smoking and watched the sunset in the desert, visited places from Lawrence of Arabia. It was so fine. A real adventure.
Petra is a famous archaeological site in Jordan's southwestern desert. Dating to around 300 B.C., it was the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. Accessed via a narrow canyon called Al Siq, it contains tombs and temples carved into pink sandstone cliffs, earning its nickname, the Rose City. Perhaps its mostfamous structure is 45m-high Al Khazneh, a temple with an ornate, Greek-style facade, and known as The Treasury.
The Dead Sea – bordering Israel, the West Bank and Jordan – is a salt lake whose banks are more than 400m below sea level, the lowest point on dry land. Its famously hypersaline water makes floating easy, and its mineral-rich black mud is used for therapeutic and cosmetic treatments at area resorts. The surrounding desert offers many oases and historic sites
Jerusalem is totally unique – there is no other place like it. A city of tradition, religion, and history, but also, increasingly, of modern culture and heritage, it is a city with so much to offer that you could spend years here and still not see everything.
