An Edo Era castle town has been recreated where samurai warriors once came and went on the streets around Kumamoto Castle on horseback. There are restaurants where you can sample the local dishes and traditional handicraft shops. At the historical cultural experience facility, Wakuwaku-za, the castle is introduced through media such as CG video. You can even enjoy experiences such as the Narikiri Taiken where you can try on period clothing.

Here is a quick video I made showing you what type of shops/restaurants there are on the main section of the Shimotori Arcade. Shimotori Arcade is one of two main Shopping Arcades in the city with other being Kamitori Arcade.
When I get a chance I will make a video of Kamitori Arcade however it is not as long as the Shimotori Arcade but there are more clothes shops in this area.

I know a little while ago I made a quick video showing everyone what the 'Shimotori Shopping Arcade' looked like. Well the 'Kamitori Shopping Arcade' is the other main shopping area in Kumamoto City which is only seperated from Shimotori by a main road. Unlike Shimotori the Kamitori area mainly specialises in the selling of clothes and other accessroies. So I would recommened checking this area out if you happen to be in the city and are looking for some nice clothes. However be warned that these clothes are not very cheap!

I have lived in Kumamoto City for more than a year now but this was the first time I went to Hanaoka Mountain. I actually live quite close as I can see it from my apartment. Originally I had thought on top of the mountain was a temple and/or shrine but in fact there is a Stupa on top which contains the holy remains of Buddha. The remains were donated to Kumamoto by the former Prime Minister of India Nehru as a prayer for world peace.

A special sightseeing bus service runs from Kumamoto Station around the castle area of the city, the Shiromegurin Bus aka The Castle Loop Bus runs every 30 mins between 9:00 and 17:00 and costs 130 yen for adults and 70 yen for school age children. A one day pass is available for 300 yen, 150 yen for children. The bus route gives easy access to Kumamoto Castle, Sakuranobaba Jyosaien, Gyobutei, The Prefectural Traditional Crafts Center, The Prefectural Art Museum and Ninomaru Koen – the large park behind the castle.

NABEGATAKI FALL Kumamoto, JPN -Alex Trip 1-
I am editing some places I've been traveling here in Japan.This is Nabegataki Fall located in Kumamoto Pref. of Kyushu island where I live in Japan, it's almost 5 hours by car from my city Fukuoka. This beautiful and natural spot isn't well known yet. However it's a very natural preserved spot where few tourists are going to visit. Fresh/cold mount and forest air around there, when the climate was over 30 ℃. You can see more falls around there but this one definitely was the best. Hope you like to check this video and visit there one day.

Within the first few seconds of this video, there was a lady who totally caught me creepin' with the camera. :(
While Dan came to visit, we were lucky that the sakura was still blossoming towards the end of March when we finally made our way back to Kumamoto. First thing we did was go to Kumamoto Castle to check out the blossoms. Lots of people were enjoying their hanami (花見), where they sit together under the sakura trees and enjoy some food usually paired with beer or sake. Dan and I didn't have time to partake in such a thing (I had to get back to work), so we wandered.
