Josef Chromy Wines | Discover Tasmania
Josef Chromy Wines' 61-hectare (150 acre) vineyard produces a number of varieties of highly sought-after grapes. Wines include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer. A vintage sparkling and Botrytis Riesling round out the range, and everything is estate-grown. The Josef Chromy Cellar Door Café, located in the estate's original homestead, is surrounded by landscaped gardens. Warm yourself by the open log fire and take in the views over the vineyard, winery and lake. Here, you can taste fine cool climate wines and sample fresh Tasmanian produce. Enjoy a light lunch or gourmet snack, taste rich Tasmanian cheeses or buy a fresh hamper from the delicatessen and dine alfresco in the grounds.

Spirit of Tasmania - Flavours of Tassie Showcase Goaty Hill Wines
What are the ingredients for a fantastic and uniquely Tasmanian wine? Well, Natasha Nieuwhof knows and has been proving it at her Goaty Hill Vineyard located in the Tamar Valley. Goaty Hill is a family owned and operated business that has been turning out brilliant cool climate wines for over fifteen years. The unique climate of Tassie, with its four distinct seasons and extensive ripening period adds rich complexity to the fruit.
Natasha invites you to try the naturally rich and developed flavours of Goaty Hill wines on board the Spirit of Tasmania as part of the Flavours of Tassie showcase. She will be there to simulate the cellar door experience directly with you on board the ship. As you taste the wine, you'll be talked through the process of its creation and Natasha will answer any questions you happen to have. She'll share her passion and love for winemaking and have you itching to visit Goaty Hill in person to savour the serene natural environment where these incredible wines are created.
Don't miss the chance to sample their 2006 Riesling which has won a number of gold medals and trophies from various wine fairs -- it's not every day you get the chance to taste such a pristine Tasmanian drop. See you on board Spirit of Tasmania!

Stuart MacGill wines about Josef Chromy
I'd never heard of Josef Chromy before I met him. I mean, I'd done some research about the person I was about to visit and all that jazz, but prior to that - nothing.
The curious thing is that I pride myself on being a wine lover with a single minded consumer focus, but I didn't recognize a like minded soul until I accidentally walked into his cellar door.
Josef Chromy produce wine for apprentice wine lovers. Not that you'll get bored once you've achieved full-time status, because they also make plenty of interesting stuff for you to work through as your palate develops.
It's just that when you find someone who's this comfortable relaxing around a table with good food, wine, conversation and company, you should probably stop awhile and soak it all in.
