Juan De Fuca China Beach | Vancouver Island Canada
All 47kms of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail are now open to the public. The recent upgrades have improved public safety at 24 different locations along the trail, near Sombrio Point. New stairs, bridges, boardwalks, and railings have been installed.
The completed work wrapped up phase 2 of this multi-year project, which will improve infrastructure along the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. Phase 3 is scheduled to commence in Spring 2020.
The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail is a strenuous, multi-day hike in a rugged and isolated environment and park users should plan accordingly. Hikers should be prepared for uneven ground and slippery conditions on muddy trails, wooden surfaces, boulders, and rocky shorelines.

Vancouver Island - Strathcona Provincial Park On a Spring Day
Two days on Vancouver Island only scratches the surface of what can be experienced.
Soaking Wet Juan De Fuca Trail Day 1
We started out on a hike we have wanted to do for a long time, the beautiful Juan de Fuca trail. It started out very wet and very muddy, but it's all part of the fun when on the coast. The park was created in 1996 by combining the former China Beach Provincial Park, Loss Creek Park, Parkinson Creek Park and Botanical Beach Park and the trail connecting them into one park. The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail was originally part of a lifesaving trail that serviced this area, known at the time as the Graveyard of the Pacific. It has been upgraded and maintained over the years and is now a very popular 47 km hiking trail, very similar to the West Coast Trail in Pacific Rim National Park.

Mystic Beach | Juan de Fuca Marine Trail
One of the many great things about living on Vancouver Island is the ability to hike out to incredible places like Mystic Beach | Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. An hour out of Victoria is this beautiful part of the world.
The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail is a rugged 47-kilometre wilderness hiking trail located within Juan de Fuca Provincial Park along the southwestern coast of Vancouver Island. The trail stretches from China Beach, 35 km west of Sooke, to Botanical Beach, just outside Port Renfrew.
Panoramic views of the coastline, Juan de Fuca Strait and the Olympic Mountains can be seen from many points along this rainforest trail. Lucky are those who spot a pod of whales, but it is not uncommon to view sea lions, bald eagles, herons and other wildlife.
The trail can be hiked in part, as a day hike, or backpacked in its entirety in four to six days. Unlike the longer West Coast Trail (75 km), the Juan de Fuca Trail does not require a reservation; however, there is a backcountry camping fee of $10 per person/per night.

Canada, Vancouver Island - Windsurfing Into the Unknown 2013 [Movie]
This is the official full movie when Max Matissek joined Philip Soltysiak on a Windsurfing Into the Unknown adventure on Vancouver Island, Canada. Joined by Phil's younger brother Tom, they camped and searched for windsurfing spots few have ever heard of in the summer of 2013.
The two professional windsurfers and seasoned travelers have been to some of the best windsurfing destinations around the world, and it was now a chance for Canada's West Coast to prove it's worthiness as a destination for adventure windsurfers. The trip took the riders from Jordan River and Gordon's Beach, across to Port Renfrew, into Lake Cowichan and Nitinat Lake, to Port Alberni and finishing off on the Pacific coast in Tofino. All the while the team camped in the island's Pacific Temperate Rain Forest, cooking and keeping warm with a campfire, and trying to keep wildlife away from their food.
