It's hard to hear me as I'm choking over all the dust .....by the way......this dude ended up scamming me out of $35 USD.....watch out for the tuk tuk drivers....in fact....i wouldn't suggest using them at all if you can avoid it. (July 25, 2011)

Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh is on the rise. Although Western tourism is down year over year, the city's economy is booming.
Khmer's continue to see improving living standards and life in the country's capital is almost unrecognizable in just 10 short years. The ancient and modern sides of Phnom Penh continue to co-exist to produce a city unlike any other in Stouh-East Asia.
This film depicts both old and new Cambodia. I take a tour of the old food market, show you around a luxury hotel, visit some of the cities many nightlife venues and talk to the local people in various professions.
The first time I visited Phnom Penh was back in 2003. Since then Riverside have been transformed to a haven for connoisseurs of with modern Western restaurants. Traditional Cambodia is nowhere to be seen. As soon as you walk a block away from riverside however things change and you're thrown back a decade or ten.
Bicycle taxis take locals to and from work whilst motorbikes which appears to date back to the Japanese invasion of French Indochine during World War II still maneuver past moving at snails pace.
For how much longer one will be able to witness old Asia in Cambodia is anyone's guess. No is as good a time to visit as ever though. The longer you wait the higher chances are that visiting Phnom Penh will be nothing more than a visit to a mini Bangkok.

BUCKETLIST ADVENTURE RIDE! Cambodia the dirty way round
When Cambodian Motorbike Tours asked if I'd like to film their jungle tour I said hell yes. Plenty of creek crossings, rickety bridges, beach riding and even a jungle where the tigers still roam. Throw in plenty of a pile of Aussie dirt riders, upmarket accommodation, cheap beer, and spectactular food and it promises to be an epic adventure. Phnom Penh the capital of Cambodia. Before we even touch the bikes we need a crash course in handling southeast Asian traffic. It looks completly chaotic game of dodgem cars but there's a method to the madness. So we head out in some tuk tuks to learn the system. Unlike Western driving where we aggressively guard our spot, in Cambodia it's about respect and working together to move a shit load of bizarre looking vehicles through the streets with minimum fuss or agro.
So a quick bit of geography. Cambodia is tucked in nicely between Thailand and Vietnam and our first leg with Cambodian Motorbike Tours is from Phnom Penh down south to a posh beachside hotel at Kep. Before we explore this land of a thousand shades of green, we need to get out from the city. The grid locked traffic eases as we head out, and we hope the corner marking system keeps our motley crew together through the outer suburbs. Most riders on the TTR250s, and Emma makes the most of the lounge chair seat. Once we are off the main roads then it's open season for wheelies. The locals were constantly asking for wheelies and as invited guests we wanted to do the right thing.

The imposing faces on the temples in Angkor Wat Siem Reap evoke awe inspiring admiration of the achievements of an ancient civilization.
The temples of Angkor Wat temple, Angkor Thom and Banteay Srey are some of the most photographed World Heritage listed wonders on earth.
They can be found in the north of Cambodia.
Venturing to the ruins and beyond is an unforgettable experience!
Here are some interesting facts when travelling to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
1. Cambodia’s flag is the only one in the world to feature a building!
Angkor Wat Temple is the heart and soul of Cambodia.
The world heritage listed site was built in the early 12th century and is the biggest religious complex on the planet.
2. The ancient ruins of Angkor Wat Temple are way bigger than you think.
While Angkor Wat is the biggest religious complex in the world, the grounds of the temple ruins extend over an area of more than 500 acres.
That’s about 50 times larger than the site of Machu Picchu!
3. The country has a shocking past that happened not that long ago.
During the four years of the Khmer Rouge’s rule, around 2 million people were killed.
That’s one fifth of the population!
Because of the genocide that took place from 1975-1979, up to 63% of Cambodia’s population is under thirty.
4. You can learn from the locals on a home stay adventure.
There are lots of opportunities to take part in a home stay or take a trek through the jungle and learn more about rural life in Cambodia.
5. There’s nothing like a traditional Cambodian wedding!
Traditional Cambodian weddings are full of celebration, intermingled with glamorous garments and a non-stop party that can go for up to three days and three nights!
6. Cambodians celebrate the New Year in April.
Cambodian New Year celebrations are held in mid April each year and marks the end of the traditional harvest season.
Be prepared to get wet as water fly’s everywhere!
This is the biggest celebration of the year in Cambodia.
7. There are geckos that have a distinct chirp.
Cambodians believe that counting a gecko’s chirp will tell you if you’ll be lucky to marry.
It is considered good luck if a tokay gecko lets out seven or more calls in the same room as you.
8. Insects are widely eaten throughout the country.
While Cambodians are renowned for cooking up creepy crawlies such as crickets, ants and even tarantulas, most people eat fish, vegetables and rice as part of their daily diet.
9. You’ll find the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia.
The Tonle Sap provides sustenance to nearly half of Cambodia’s crops and is a major source for fishing.
The amazing thing about this lake is that large parts regenerate during the wet season when the monsoon rain falls and floods the central area between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.
10. You can get nearly anywhere in a tuk tuk.
The first thing you’ll see when you arrive in Siem Reap or Phnom Penh is the long line of tuk tuks at the airport and waiting at nearly every street corner around town.
While the journey can get your heart pumping, normal road rules are thrown out the window, but it’s a quicker way to navigate through the streets.
Plus, tuk tuks are more readily available in some towns.
But remember to negotiate the price before getting in!
