Juniper Springs Campground Tour & Review
Juniper Springs Campground is located within the Ocala National Forest about an hour and fifteen minutes north of Orlando and less than an hour west of Daytona Beach right in the heart of Central Florida! The have a wonderful swimming area, kayaks for rent, and a three loop campground. Camping is primitive, but you can use a generator from 6:00am until 10:00pm. One loop is for tent camping exclusively. The main walking trail is great and is on a boardwalk that follows along Juniper Creek! This is a wonderful camping destination in Central Florida!

Juniper Springs
Family day at Juniper Spring, Fl. Daddy took Avi for a tour of the Mill.
Silver River & Juniper Creek Kayaking
Some of the coolest flatwater I have ever paddled. 5 miles on the Silver river and 7 miles on Juniper creek. Various birds, Alligators, Manatees, fish, and even a monkey was spotted!
Florida backpacking (Hidden Pond) and canoe trip - Juniper, Silver and Blue Springs
Day 1 - travel day and backpack to Hidden Pond
Day 2 - Hiked back to car; drive to Juniper Springs then did a reverse haul shuttle with the canoe (leaving the car at the take-out). Like $12 for the shuttle and $12 for overnight parking ($1 more than day pass). 7 mile paddle - narrow, challenging and whoa such fun. Camp - on nearby Florida Trail
Day 3 - breakfast at Silver Springs restaurant $5 special - wonderful. Arranged shuttle at State Park. Again like $12 - call when done and at Ray Wayside. Car camped in Ocala closer to Clearwater Lake trailhead of Florida Trail.
Day 4 - Launched at French Landing (free) and paddled past Blue Spring to see manatees. Paddles upstream on Snake Creek and thought about loop including Hotoon River and a canal but vegetation on Snake Creek was too much. Later went to Blue Spring State Park $6 entry. Hit Flagler Beach and then drove home.
Temps in upper 30s at night with much moisture in the air left us feeling cold. Started tarpless one night and was soaked by 10 pm. Day temps ranges in low 70s.

Swimming in the Juniper Springs COLD
Juniper Springs, FL River Run - Canoe trip down the River
Spent the morning or about 3 hours canoeing down Juniper Springs River Run in Ocala National Forest in Florida. The run is amazing: lots of wildlife, alligators, white owls, fish, turtles. Water is crystal clear lots of turns and even a small section of the river with rapids. Definitely worth the trip to Juniper Springs

2012 04 01 Capt Erika Ritter Juniper Creek Rapids
Cool, clear Juniper Creek (Juniper Springs Run) which empties into Lake George (St. Johns River basin) is one of the steepest-gradient (averaging 3 feet per mile), swiftest-flowing canoeing/kayaking streams in the entire state of Florida. Captain Erika Ritter at the beginning of April 2012, with a go for the gusto attitude, kayaks through the limestone shoal rapids that exist about 2 miles upstream from the SR-19 Bridge over Juniper Creek in Marion County, Florida. Ocklawahaman Paul Nosca witnessed the goings-on while surveying an artesian spring entering into the creek from the south bank.

Florida Trail, Juniper Creek
The year, 2013. We joined the Panhandle Trace Hike for a traverse of the Blackwater section of the Florida Trail: Sandra’s second, John’s first. A prescribed burn turned wildfire filled the air with smoke, so we hiked this scenic segment southbound from Red Rock Rd to Blackwater River State Park. Revisiting Red Rocks two years later, we found the blazes painted blue.
Visit Juniper Springs Recreation Area in Ocala National Forest - Camp, Hike, Paddle, and Enjoy
Showcasing sparkling springs in a subtropical setting, Juniper Springs is one of the oldest and best known recreation areas on the East Coast. Located between Ocala and Ormond Beach along SR 40, this complex of swimming and picnic area, campground, and trails was constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The setting is unlike any other found in the United States, with hundreds of tiny bubbling springs and massive springs gushing out of crevices in the earth beneath a dense canopy of palms and oaks, an oasis within the heart of the desert-like Big Scrub.

Canoeing Juniper River Florida
This is a beautiful central Florida river, USA. Quiet, peaceful full of clear waters and crocodiles! Saw plenty of wild life and the waters were gentil to canoe down, hot and sticky! Saw raccoons and an eagle type bird not sure what it was. Video taken in 2004.
2018 - Juniper Run - November
~ We went back to Juniper! The low water made the rapids even better. Spoiler: I dropped my phone in the river.
