Dinosaurs in Nong Nooch Gardens in Pattaya Thailand
Like a scene from Jurassic Park my family and I walked among dinosaurs in Pattaya of all places.
Dinosaur Valley can be found in the huge and beautiful Nong Nooch Botanical Gardens just 30 minutes drive fro Central Pattaya in Thailand/
If you have a young family they will love it and there is so much to do in Nong Nooch Gardens you should allow at least 4 hours, but even that is not long enough to see it all (but you will get tired from walking). Being outside do put your sunscreen on and be prepared to do lots of walking so wear comfortable shoes. #nongnoochgardens

Dinosaur Park
Located just in front of the new Floating market this place brings you face-to-fate with life-size replicas of the creatures that lived 200 million years ago including a Tyrannosaurus Rex ( Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the largest land carnivores of all time; the largest complete specimen, measured 12.8 metres ( 42 ft ) long, and was 4.0 metres ( 13.1 ft ) tall at the hips. Mass estimates have varied widely over the years, from more than 7.2 metric tons ( 7.9 short tons ), to less than 4.5 metric tons ( 5.0 short tons ), with most modern estimates ranging between 5.4 and 6.8 metric tons ( 6.0 and 7.5 short tons ). tested dinosaur mass estimation procedures on elephants concluded that dinosaur estimations are flawed and produce over-estimations; thus, the weight of Tyrannosaurus could be much less than usually estimated ) a Velociraptor ( Velociraptor was a mid sized Dromaeosaurid, with adults measuring up to 2.07 m ( 6.8 ft ) long, 0.5 m ( 1.6 ft ) high at the hip, and weighing up to 15 kg ( 33 lb ). The skull, which grew up to 25 cm ( 9.8 in ) long, was uniquely up - curved, concave on the upper surface and convex on the lower. The jaws were lined with 26--28 widely spaced teeth on each side, each more strongly serrated on the back edge than the front—possibly an adaptation that improved its ability to catch and hold fast-moving prey ). The park is set out so that you do get a very realistic idea of the size and power that these massive beasts had, especially when you see the fierce T- Rex doing battle with a Torosaurus ( Torosaurus meaning perforated lizard, referring to the large openings in the frill; commonly mistranslated as bull lizard is a genus of ceratopsid dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period ( late Maastrichtian stage ), between 70 and 65 million years ago. It possessed one of the largest skulls of any known land animal. The frilled skull reached 2.6 metres ( 8.5 ft ) in length. From head to tail, Torosaurus is thought to have measured about 9 m ( 30 ft ) long and weighed 4 to 6 tonnes ( 4.4 to 6.6 tons ). In 2010, research on dinosaur ontogeny growth and development of individuals over the life span concluded that Torosaurus may not represent a distinct genus at all, but a mature form of Triceratops ). Various other Dinosaur's appear in the Jurassic Garden .
That would be the general conception of this Popular attraction. I first saw this when I visited Pattaya Floating Market in February 2011. But it was July 2011 before I finally got to visit here. The Gardens look very impressive from the Sukhumvit Road, Jomtien. But inside I found it very tired looking and the gardens neglected. The Crocodile pen was not very well kept either. The staff seemed indifferent, and not very helpful. The Exhibits looked like they were all second hand, the condition was not what I expected.
This park could be turned into a great day out for the kids if only a bit of time was spent on refurbishing the whole of this attraction.
Open daily 10.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.
Nong Nooch Gardens Pattaya - A Scientific Research Center Saving Endangered Plant Species
The 600 acre Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, just outside Thailand's Resort City of Pattaya is one of the most stunning attractions in the Land of Smiles.
Besides its traditional shows and animal attractions, this is a must-see destination for gardeners and botanists -- both amateur and advanced.
The world loses around one and a half acres of rainforest every second, so the team at Nong Nooch have joined hands with other conservationists to preserve plants and propagate some of the planets highly endangered species.
This garden has evolved into one of the largest collections of living plants in Asia and its diversity is world renowned.
On this day we were venturing behind the scenes to an area of Nong Nooch Gardens that the general public rarely sees. Our guide was Anders Lindstrom who is a world renowned expert in cycads and has worked here since the gardens first opened in 1980.
Besides its vast Palm and Orchid collection, Nong Nooch has one of the world's most impressive collections of Cycads.
The garden focuses on Southeast Asian, Tropical American and Central African species of Cycads, but a collection of almost every species can also been seen here. In connection with conservation agencies this is an important conservation area for this endangered and ancient plant group and Anders manages a major Cycad gene bank on site.
The efforts of the Nong Nooch team have been recognized and applauded both near and far. This garden is a multiple winner of Thailand's Kinnari tourism awards and in 2010 Nong Nooch won the prestigious gold medal for its display of Asian Culture & Plants at the Chelsea Flower show in London -- the most prestigious flower show in the world.
Do yourself a favor and spend a day in the garden at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens, Pattaya.
