A Frog Farm Owner's Life Journey in Three Dishes
Frog meat - hate it or love it. But for Chelsea Wan, second generation owner of Jurong Frog Farm, these three different frog dishes each tell a story in her life - from hating the farm to how the peaceful lifestyle eventually shaped her life.
Started in 1981 by her father, Jurong Frog Farm is Singapore’s first and only frog farm. However, with their land lease expiring in 2 and 1/2 years, the future of the farm and its croaking inhabitants are left uncertain.

Beyond the Table: Chelsea Wan of Jurong Frog Farm
Not many university graduates would want to spend their afternoons among slimy bullfrogs, but for Chelsea Wan, it was a natural calling.
Her father Wan Boon Thiaw started Jurong Frog Farm (JFF) in 1981 when he foresaw potential in the farming of American bullfrogs, and 32-year-old Ms Wan joined the family business in 2006, armed with a sociology degree from the National University of Singapore and a bout of new ideas to further rejuvenate the farming trade.
Today, together with her younger brother and her parents, Ms Wan oversees a 1.2-hectare Lim Chu Kang farm plot that is home to almost 20,000 bullfrogs. The farm regularly conducts educational farms tours and produces frog meat and hashima in dried and ready-to-drink bottled forms to restaurants and supermarkets islandwide.

3-Year-Old Does Farmwork For First Time On His Own
Jurong Frog Farm is Singapore’s only frog farm, now mainly run by Chelsea Wan, founder Wan Bock Thiaw’s daughter.
While some #asianmums might balk at the idea of letting their 3-year-olds clean up frog pens, or venture too close to deep fish ponds, Chelsea is a #coolmum.
She thinks it's not too early for her son, Ninja, to start helping out on the farm.
#OnTheRedDot’s new series “Old Enough!” is adapted from the popular long-running series from Japan’s Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV) and showcases 9 determined preschoolers overcoming their fears and running errands on their own for the very first time.

Nestled within the Kranji Countryside is the Jurong Frog Farm, a farm that breeds and sells American Bullfrogs for human consumption. The place is filled with the melodious sounds of croaking bullfrogs, and the enclosures house frogs based on maturity. Frog meat is sold from the shop and you can either get it fresh or frozen.
