THE GAMBIA 2017, BIJILO MONKEY PARK.
The species rich Bijilo Forest Park is a fenced woodland which was gazetted in 1952 and covers an area of 51.3 hectares[1] situated on the coast just south of the Senegambia area of Kololi. The park consists of mainly of closed canopy forest with a significant number of Borassus aethiopum palms. The park was opened to the public in 1991 and now receives over 23,000 visitors per year.[

Ebola - A positive message from The Gambia - Pt 2 of 2
Just wanted you to see these 2 short video messages from The Gambia. I have just spent 8 days there on holiday with Thomas Cook (1st time visit) and was saddened to see the massive impact Ebola has had on tourism there. My flight out was only half full if that, and my hotel was only at 20% capacity due to the Ebola outbreak – But there is no Ebola there.
All the local tourism trade is hard hit, with hotels, restaurants, bars, excursions etc suffering massively. Gambia is on the brink without tourism and people need to be aware that there is no Ebola in the Gambia and they are working very hard to keep it outside their borders. For example, on entering Gambia, I had my hands disinfected, and my temp taken. On the way back to the UK, at Manchester I was able to walk right through without any screening or questions asked of where and what I’ve been doing in Africa.
Please show the videos to help support tourism in The Gambia as Ebola is having a devastating impact even though there is no confirmed cases.
I had such a wonderful lovely cultural experience in The Gambia, and would highly recommend a holiday there to anyone!

Kotu Beach in Kotu, Gambia
A small and wonderfully welcoming African nation, the Gambia is awash with stunning palm-lined beaches and Kotu Beach is one of the most popular among visitors from the UK and across Europe. Combining the luxury and convenience of a modern beach resort with abundant opportunity for off the beaten track adventure, the sun-baked destination lies less than 15 miles from Yundum International Airport, located in the colourful Gambian capital, Banjul.
Although Koto Beach is an increasingly popular holiday destination, it has so far avoided the overdevelopment that has blighted so many exotic destinations. Planning restrictions mean that towering high rise hotels are conspicuous by their absence and instead the attractive resort of Kotu is characterised by low-rise hotel and apartment complexes, built in the traditional style. Bird watching safaris are a popular activity with travellers visiting the Gambia, whilst river cruises along the River Gambia provide excellent opportunities to spot hippos, crocodiles and other wetland animals at dramatically close quarters. Inland safaris are also hugely popular and lucky tourists may even be able to spot chimpanzees as well as the many smaller monkeys that leap from branch to branch overhead.
Kotu Beach is a great base for exploring the wider Gambia and hotels here are more than happy to arrange long and short excursions for guests. Local transport mainly takes the form of bone-rattling public buses and bare-bones river boats, so visitors who wish to travel a little more luxuriously would be well-advised to take trips aboard more comfortable tourist boats and buses.
It is perfectly possible to combine off the beaten track adventure with modern luxury during a break here - for example, a couple of days safari adventure can be offset with a sap treatment and a few rounds of golf at the nearby Fajara Golf Course. Kotu Beach resort boasts plenty of relaxed bars and restaurants, serving family-friendly international dishes such as pizza and pasta as well as the wonderfully spicy and flavoursome cuisine that is typical of the Gambia.
Unsurprisingly, the fish here is wonderful - caught daily by local fishermen, it's a great way to support the local economy while treating yourself to some of the freshest seafood you can imagine.
Kotu Beach resort also has a scattering of smaller shops as well as a supermarket, ideal for self-caterers and for anyone planning a picnic. Meanwhile, the local market is a colourful place to pick up local handicrafts.

Driving around SereKunda Market / Gambia
Hey viewers, here a little video from the bizarre roads of the Gambia again. I was buying some new shirts at the Serekunda market, with Dodoo Faal last month, and made this video. Google did not block the music this time, so you are able to hear the great sound of his Mitsubishi Outlander. As the Sayerrjobe Avenue was in a traffic jam again,.. we took a de-tour around the back of the Serekunda market to avoid it. These streets have no names, but call it direction Dippa Kunda / Manjai Kunda. The taxi in front of us, with the, just bought, 2 persons mattress on top is doing exactly the same. Yes anything is possible on these streets, it keeps amazing me. Just look at the sides of the roads, or on the roads itself and be surprised about all the things you can see here. Enjoy! Hey Zuschauer, hier nochmal ein kleines Video von den bizarren Strassen Gambias. Ich kaufte letzten Monat einige neue Shirts auf dem Serekunda-Markt, mit Dodoo Faal, und machte dieses Video. Google hat dieses Mal die Musik nicht blockiert, so dass Sie den großartigen Sound seines Mitsubishi Outlander hören können. Als die Sayerrjobe Avenue wieder im Stau war, machten wir eine Tour um die Rückseite des Serekunda Marktes, um es zu vermeiden. Diese Straßen haben keine Namen, aber nennen sie Richtung Manjai Kunda. Thousands in Gambia celebrate Barrow's victory
(2 Dec 2016) Gambians celebrated in the streets of Banjul on Friday after election officials said the ruler of more than two decades would concede defeat in a startling turn of events for a country where the critics have long alleged votes are rigged and opponents jailed.
President Yahya Jammeh was expected to address the nation Friday evening, although already his fate appeared all but sealed by the unprecedented crowds publicly cheering his ouster.
Jammeh finished with just 36 percent of the vote in the presidential election compared with the winner Adama Barrow with 45 percent, according to the national election commission.
Just days earlier, Jammeh had declared that no demonstrations of any kind would be permitted regardless of the vote's outcome.
News of Barrow's victory prompted thousands to take to the streets in celebration - some on foot while others rode in cars and trucks and on motorbikes - as soldiers looked on.

Tourists continued to be evacuated from Gambia as legislators voted to extend President Yahya Jammeh's term by three months, just hours before his mandate was set to expire, state television reported Wednesday.
As the crisis deepened, more than 1,000 mainly British and Dutch tourists began leaving the tiny West African nation on specially chartered flights.
Hundreds streamed into the airport, seeking information on departures.
However, many tourists continued to enjoy lying on the beach.
Thousands of people have been fleeing to Senegal, including a number of Jammeh's former government ministers, who resigned this week.
While Jammeh's government has been accused by human rights groups of arbitrary detentions and torture of opponents during his 22-year rule, the government has promoted Gambia as the smiling coast of Africa.
Travel group Thomas Cook said it planned to bring home nearly 1,000 vacationers.
The evacuation is not mandatory.
In the Netherlands, travel company Corendon said it was sending planes to Gambia to bring home tourists.
The company said 831 Dutch tourists were on Corendon vacations there.
Another Dutch tour operator, Tui, was sending five aircraft to repatriate Dutch and Belgian tourists.
Tui said it had 815 Dutch tourists and 228 Belgians in the country.
Gambia's new state of emergency bans people from any acts of disobedience or violence, and it tells security forces to maintain order.

Gambia: The people who stood up to Yahya Jammeh - Talk to Al Jazeera
On January 21 2017, Yahya Jammeh boarded a plane at Banjul's international airport and left the country he had ruled for 22 years.
Jammeh had refused to accept defeat in the Gambian presidential elections the month before. West African heads of state set off on a month-long marathon negotiation, taking turns to get Jammeh to accept the results. Eventually, they gave him an ultimatum: step down or 7,000 soldiers from the region step in to take back control of the country.
On January 19, foreign troops marched in as the country's elected leader, Adama Barrow, was sworn in.
Jammeh took power in a bloodless coup in 1994, when he was a 29-year-old lieutenant.
We have no plans to stay long. What we are here for is to set a just system and to put up structures so that what happened in the past 13 years will never happen again, he said at the time.
But soon, Jammeh had swapped his army uniform for a white traditional robe and adopted a more authoritarian tone.
He ruled the country with an iron fist - imprisoning critics and political opponents. Human rights organisations accused him and his security forces of torture and enforced disappearances.
We talk to the men and women who helped bring Yahya Jammeh's 22-year rule to an end.

Driving on Kololi Road to Senegambia Road
I received several requests for more road video's from the Gambia, so here is another video of one of the main roads. I'm driving here over Kololi Road towards Senegambia after a visit to SOS Children's Village, which is one of the charity projects I support. Starting at the central mosque on the right side and just further down the road towards Senegambia. At the end of the afternoon I usually go for a quick drink at one of the bars there before taking a shower and getting ready for dinner. So followers,.. enjoy this other busy road in the Gambia. RIP Thomas Cook. Could Brussels Airlines provide a stop gap from the UK to Gambia?
It's very sad to hear about Thomas Cook collapsing. Luckily there are a number of ways of getting there until direct flights start again with other companies. Brussels Airlines is one of the solutions until that time comes. Please don't complain about this being a rubbish review, I was very tired as there wasn't much point going to bed as I had to be up at 12:30am to pick up other people. This video is just a brief look at the Brussels Airlines route.
