KJET High Speed Boat Experience - Queenstown, New Zealand
KJET High Speed Boat Experience - Queenstown, New Zealand
Step off Queenstown's Main Town Pier and onto a big yellow KJet boat for an unforgettable Jet boating experience. Leave down town Queenstown in your wake as you power into the channels of two of New Zealand's most scenic waterways; The Kawarau & Shotover rivers!
Skimming over the pure waters of Lake Wakatipu taking in stunning views of the Remarkables Mountain range, we follow the beautiful willow lined Kawarau River, before pursuing the shallower waters and fast moving braids of the famous Shotover River.
In the shallow waters the Jet boat comes into it's own traveling at speeds upto 85 km/ph often in water less than 10cm deep! Your experienced driver will skillfully negotiate the narrow braids, and tight turns of the river while making plenty of time for the exhilarating 360 spins that Jet boats are renowned for.
Covering a full 43 kilometers you get to experience the fantastic diversity of Queenstown's waterways, take in glimpses of local life from the homes lining the lakeshore, as well as stunning views all along the way including river gardens and great views of the Remarkables Mountain Range.
On return to Queenstown you'll descend below Lake Wakatipu in the Underwater Observatory where you can feed the fish and eels that thrive in Queenstown bay.

30 Tips for Backpacking in New Zealand ➜
-- About this video --
Today we are joining Skippers Canyon Jet for a jet boat tour in Queenstown! Skippers Canyon Jet is not just for jet boating in New Zealand, it’s an experience from pick-up to drop-off with a journey through the terrifying and dangerous road of the Skippers Road in Queenstown. Skippers Road is on the edge of the Skippers Canyon – a narrow gravel road on the edge of mountain sides. Our driver gives us some insights into the Skippers Road as we make our way to the jet boat tour.
Once we arrive at the Skippers Canyon Jet jetty on the Shotover River, we get geared up and hop in the Skippers Jet jet boat. Then the thrill ride begins with near-misses with river canyon walls, 360-degree spins, and fast fast action.
Jet boats are a New Zealand invention and a must-do adrenaline experience for anyone who loves fast things. There are actually loads of Queenstown jet boats to choose from, but the whole Skippers Road experience leading to an isolated jet boat site makes Skippers Canyon Jet worth considering.
So what do you think of Skippers Canyon Jet? Would you consider it as an adrenaline activity in Queenstown? LUK in the comments!
