Amsterdam, You will fall in love with it!
In Part 1 we ended at the lively Museumplein. But Amsterdam has more interesting squares. Like the Leidseplein with the City Theatre and a big cinema. In addition, the Americain Hotel and Cafe where artists and intellectuals come together.
Nearby other attractive places like a casino, the Hard Rock Cafe and poptemple Paradiso.
The Rembrandtsplein, is named after our most famous painter. His statue is in the middle. The statues around him are figures from his most famous painting, the Nachtwacht.
Walk of Rembrandt Square towards the Munttoren. You will come along this famous cinema, Tuschinsky. Completely build in Art Deco style.
When you have reached the Munttoren, shopping street the Kalverstraat is on your right side. Enter the flowermarket on the left side.
An old flea market is at the foot of a characteristic church on the waterlooplein. We’ll come along Amsterdam's town hall. It also houses a theatre.
We are taking a look inside the house where Rembrandt lived and worked.
Another nice square is the Nieuwmarkt. In the middle the monumentual weigh house, surrounded with other historic buildings and cosy terraces.
Alongside Belgium and the Scandinavian countries the Netherlands is the most gay-friendly country in Europe. Every year Amsterdam organizes the Canal Pride. It is a huge celebration of devotion towards equality for the gay, lesbian, and transgender.
Another big party is Kingsday. It is one of the largest open-air festivities in the city. From all over the country people come to Amsterdam for second-hand shopping on the streets. Hundreds of small boats sail along the canals and the beer flows freely.
Amsterdam is also famous for its many coffe shops where you can buy cannabis and marijuana, but beware, there are strict rules. And they change occasionally.

So take your time in Amsterdam and all the exciting places around this interesting city.

The KNSM Island is located in the Eastern Docklands of Amsterdam. The Koninklijke Nederlandse Stoomboot-Maatschappij (KNSM), Royal Dutch Steamboat Shipping company used to have its headquarters and its docks on this man-made peninsula.
A two-decade makeover of the southern bank of Amsterdam's IJ waterfront has turned disused shipping wharfs, dockside warehouses and industrial estates into a large residential area with modern architecture.

하버드를 비롯한 전세계 주요대학의 도시학 수업에서 이제는 필수교재가 되어버린 KNSM Island. 2004년 여름, WEST8 사무실을 방문했을 때, 당시 담당 디자이너가 열변을 토하며, 자랑했던 바로 그곳. 영상은 2007년을 기점으로 99% 완공된 이곳의 유명 주거건축들을 중심으로 담아본다. 순서는 Wiel Arets의 Sky Dome, Hans Kollhoff의 Piraeus, Adams의 Booster East, Bruno의 Barcelona,West8의 Python bridge, Diener부부의 Hoogtij, Frits의 IJ Bridge, 그밖의 Canal Housing, Jo Coenen의 Emerald Empire, Rudy의 Hoop Liefde en Fortuin, 그리고 Neutelings Riedijk의 IJ TOWER이다. 고층과 저층이 조화된 이곳의 주거단지의 계획은 Jo Coenen이 맡았고, 랜드스케이프는 West8이 맡았었다.

Truly recommended for visit.Very friendly for turists nice located,lot of museums.Every main attraction located in city center ,so two days is enough to see it.Best way to visit is buy ticket for cityseeing bus and canal cruise boat alltogether valid 48 hrs.Its look like legalized soft drugs and prostitution very attracts tourists here.Of course everything is for people but in the right dosage:-)

To the left we see the festive Barcelona building by Bruno Albert. It has a circular center with small balconies.
There, one can study examples of contemporary port area renewal. Great attention is paid to the master plan, started by the City Council, and developed by a master architects / philosophers. From this master plan, number of independent architects assisted in filling in the grid of the plan according to the given set of rules.
Across are very large buildings described by architects as 'meteorites' dropped in the city scape.Dockworkers and longshoremen were replaced by residents.
